The Azerbaijan Grand Prix was the most painful blow of Ferrari’s 2022 Formula 1 season yet. Its double retirement and Red Bull’s 1-2 mean Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez now hold the same positions in the championship. In the drivers' standings, Charles Leclerc has dropped from 46 points ahead of the reigning champion to 34 points behind, and Ferrari currently trails Red Bull by 80 points in the constructors' standings.

No, the season as we know it is over for Ferrari. You have to understand they now have an underlying reliability flaw/s. They don't even know what is causing the failures and the failures have been different in every breakdown. You see, is not enough to say for example the turbo blew up or the MGU-K blew up, you have to fully understand why and how they blew up. That tells me this current PU is looking more and more like a work-in-progress. It seems to suggest Ferrari never did enough of the reliability work during development. Is no brain surgery, when you have a new engine, you have to run it on the dyno to stress it until it breaks down over and over again, only then you will know which parts needs fortifying or even redesigning. So, just to fully nail down on why and how the breakdowns happened alone will take a while. After that, I am pretty certain it will most likely involve redesigning of multiple parts. Just to design the parts on the computer will take another while. After that, you will have to make the parts in the CAD machines and so forth. After that, you will still need to perform stringent reliability testing on them. That's why I have already said after other videos that it will most likely take months before they can really fix it. And of course by then, it will be too late. That is even before we take into account the grid penalties Charles or even Carlos might have to take plus they may even need to turn down the engine mode in the meantime to lower the chances of breakdowns, these 2 factors alone will take away any possibility of winning. Not unless the Red Bulls can suffer from DNFs, there is no way Ferrari will be able to catch up. That is also before we talk about the remaining low downforce and high straight line speed circuits like Canada, Monza, Spa, etc, the current low downforce package as proven in Azerbaijan is not good enough to beat the Red Bull even when the Ferrari is running at full power without breakdown. The F1-75 was down on top speed by 9 kph in Baku. They will definitely need an improved low downforce package to further cut down the aerodynamic load on the car, for example an even shallower rear wing and shaving down the sidepods to an absolute minimum. Having said all of that, they will still have to try nevertheless!! You are Ferrari, at the very least you owe it to Charles, Carlos and the Tifosi!!

No way they are going to fix anything in time for Canada, Charles is going to use his 3rd PU with reportedly PU1 settings (10-15 less hp) in order to keep it reliable. They may still get a penalty if any of the other components cannot be saved from PU2. What's interesting is none of Red Bulls DNFs this year (or last year) were because of their PU. They recently just switched to their PU2 in Baku, right on schedule. Out of the top teams, Red Bull is currently in the best PU allocation situation.
