SLS: Most powerful rocket in the world
Starship/Super Heavy: *hold my beer*

This isn't the most powerful rocket ever built unless you consider the starship booster not yet "built".

Ironic, the song for the most powerful rocket ever built made an intro for the second most powerful one

Strictly speaking, Artemis 1 can't have "first" or "second" test flight. It's not reusable. The next "test" flight will be with Artemis 2 already. You know, 4 bln per test flight.

This rocket would've flown years earlier if Congress had given NASA the extra $20 billion annually it had requested on top of its regular budget (The US could've easily afforded it).

CBS.. there's this cool little company testing a rocket down in Texas... Bigger, Stronger, Cheaper, Capable of multiple uses, and has more than one already built. Might actually fly first too. Quite news worthy as well. Might wanna check them out. *wink*

The artemis rocket is just silly at this point. We honestly shouldn't even ever launch it. But... we might as well get to see it once for the 30b we spent.

I'm not impressed. 50 years later and they are still using solid fuel rockets. With the technology that has been developed over the last 50 years, you would think that they would have developed something more sophisticated especially considering the amount of money that they have spent.

I wish I could be more excited about this launch system. It just feels like such a compromise over what could've been.

That said, I am *extremely* confident that it will work.

Why do reporting if you can't get your basic facts right? Artemis is not a rocket. Artemis is the name of the missions. Artemis I being the first of the series. The rocket is SLS (Space Launch System). And it is not the most powerful rocket built, SpaceX Starship Super Heavy (current prototype B4) is already built and has nearly 2 times the power of SLS, bound to launch early next year too. If SLS launches on schedule and ahead of Starship, it could be the most powerful operational rocket for a while, but only until Starship gets ready. It is stated in the video, that you need a Vehicle Assembly Building to build a rocket this big. Also not true. SpaceX is stacking Super Heavy and Starship together right on the launchpad, no VAB is used.

A quick thanks to CBS Mornings for getting these videos up on YouTube, and a much bigger thanks for not having the 15 seconds of "Thanks for watching our channel.." at the end like other networks do. I dumped cable and television years ago and don't expect to ever go back. Having access to your stories means a lot!

Remember SpaceX fanboys, SpaceX would be gone if NASA didn't help them with 1.5 billion contract and there wouldn't be Starship for you to say it's better than SLS.

I can appreciate public attention on NASAs goals, and Artemis. But I think this story and the journalist are doing an injustice of the full story.
By the end of this decade we should be flying starships, not wasteful Orion Capsules to the moon. I think it’s time to stop hemorrhaging money, and look toward a better future in human space flight/travel to the stars.

This is such a waste of money and should have been cancelled years ago. It's old technology that costs a ton and isn't reusable. SpaceX is what we all need to focus on. Also get your facts straight, Starship is the largest most powerful rocket and it's completely reusable. You guys should be doing a story on how big a waste SLS is.

I think I heard another broadcast say this one is 2.15x power of the Saturn V. That’s impressive and perfect timing because NASA really needs a boost lately. Private industry has eclipsed them and serious questions started to be raised about what that huge budget was needed for if SpaceX could do it cheaper and better. A new moon program that could lend some practice for Mars is a good goal imo
