Dr. Tipton is my absolute favorite living theologian; a brilliant yet humble man with a child like faith, much like Van Til himself. We are blessed to have access to such teaching!

Regarding apologetics: My newborn daughter is in some respiratory distress. I would dare anyone to go to a local NICU and preach on sin. What relevance would it have when your baby can't breathe? But that makes me think. Let's say you go from there to a farmers market and preach on sin. What would it have to do with growing and selling produce? Next, stop in at an instrumental music concert. What would sin have to do with harmony? Etc.

What a totally niche topic.

As I attempt to seriously listen to this - I wonder - what am I supposed to really get out of this? What was Lane's intent for his audience? What does he want his audience to leave with that they did not come with already?

I realize that Lane in his early studies was immersed in readings of Barth, Bultman, etc. so they are pregnant inside his thinking. However, I greatly appreciated the pivot somewhere probably around 30: where one of the podcasters pushed Lane to get a little more up to date since most of us have no idea who Bultman or Barth are much less know any of their content or affected by them - in other words all such discussion is pretty useless for the average listener ( though I suppose a case could be made for some conceptualization of their work to see how such conceptualizations might be seen - assuming such conceptualization are even genuinely reflective of their work in the first place...).

I love your channel. I wish you all would speak a bit more plainly though.

Can you help please.
Jesus was man and God but since he didn’t know the last hour did he lay his power aside. Please help!

As we reflect on the significance of Jesus - may we not see a call to the an original relationship to the Universe (Emerson) - ultimately God Himself (Christ) rather than the dogmatic slumber of recapitulated reformed dogmatics (ode to Kant)...

Towards the end, what I seem to get out of this as much as anything is Van Til's really simply clothing his own humanity - really his own ego and machinations - under the rubric of Jesus - both to exalt himself - and denigrate those who did not align with him.... Ultimately this all seems political more than anything that captures the reconciliation of God in Christ.

And Tipton, evidently a Van Dil disciple, continues to promulgate the same.

The final analogy of a chess match is more than apropos - this is all simply a big mind game - and these fellows get a buzz out of playing it.... Well, fair enuf - we all enjoy a good game...🙂🙂

But none of this has to do with the high call of God in Christ....
