Just got the mx3s in the mail. Used a friends previous version of the headphones a couple weeks back and I can say without a doubt the noise canceling is much worse. I couldn’t hear someone talking right in front of me with the previous version, now I can hear people talking across the room. It’s unfortunate.

I noticed the ANC was getting worse. I thought that I just got used to it, but I noticed indeed that voices in the office are coming through a lot more.. idk if it has anything to do with the update..

I am experiencing this problem. When NC is on, it sounds like white noise on the right ear cup. Very annoying :(

Why not sony update again the latest 4.1.1 to solve the problem abt the ANC problem that some say is reduce.

I noticed about a 1 1/2 months ago that I was hearing more ambient noise. When I first bought them I did not upgrade to 4.1.1 and I had my wife and kids talk to me and I couldn't hear them. Now, with the NC on I can clearly hear them talking.




When I purchased these headphones I didn't expect much and was blown away when I first got them. Now they aren't much better than a normal pair of NC headphones by Jabra of all companies.

I recently got my XM3's in the mail and am very satisfied with the product. However, I have found one minor problem, possibly defect, and that being when noise cancelling is turned on and I bob my head or do any sudden movement with it, the audio from both earcups, though more noticeable on the right one, gets sort of disrupted or muffled. But then again, this is only a minor problem I detected, I doubt in the future I will mind this at all.

Yep, it got worse for me too. Seems like the threshold for higher-pitched sounds just fell through the bottom. There's literally almost no difference when I play a video of some guy talking on my phone's speakers - with noise cancelling, with ambient or without the headphones at all. I hear people coughing behind the goddamn wall. And there's no rollback, no reinstall, nothing?

Also I am able to connect to two devices simultaneously. I can play music from one device and control the app from another. I can connect to two iPhones, an iPhone and and fire tv and mostly anything else. The trick is to connect to the audio source first then the secondary source. Secondary source must be previously connected to the headphones for dual/simultaneous pairing.

I want to ask if I can use this for a music studio, the reason is, I want a headphone which I can use as wireless to my phone on daily and can also use in my music studio.. Hoping to get something like that because I cannot buy two (2) headphones for each.. Can anyone suggest something for me pls.. Thanks

I hadn't used my headphone in 1-2 months. Had seen the reports of worse ANC before but never felt any difference or problem. Installed the latest update 4.5.2 and now the NC is horrible. Just like others reported I can hear noises come through that were blocked previously. Where the ANC felt amazing previously, it now feels really mediocre. I can talk to people now with the headphones on and hear them no problem. The traffic sound from a far street comes through practically unfiltered, where I can here cars just as well as without ANC (only the low-frequency city humming gets reduced, at a level that isn`t even impressive). Even bass-heavy truck engines are coming through clearly. Wanted to downgrade to the old firmware but Sony just broke the downgrade with the latest update (added encryption to the firmware update).
I am disgusted by Sony, I now have what feels like cheap-mediocre ANC headphones that I bought for a premium price, people have been complaining for over a year and instead of fixing it, Sony just consciously broke the only manual fix that existed.
Can`t you get someone who reports weaker ANC performance to send you their unit so you do a comparison? The difference between before and now is night and day, before you felt like in a weird echo chamber, now the ANC doesn`t feel like it`s much more than the physical muffling from the headphones themselves.
I don`t understand why Sony doesn`t at least let you choose your Firmware if they are too to fix or even confirm the issue.
Since Sony hasn`t acknowledged the problem and just made it worse and the problem persisted so long, I will probably sell the headphones I previously liked so much and never buy Sony products again, what a disgusting practice and stupid, unnecessary problem to create for your customers.
Edit: Unfortunately, since I hadn`t used the headphones in a while, I don`t know if in my case the latest 4.5.2 broke the ANC or it was already bad on an earlier version, just know that it`s not bad where it was previously amazing.

I understand that not all people have the update issue, i have the issue on 1000xm2, i didnt know about the mid range stuff i always said i hear more voices in the bust on my way to work after the update, and it bothered me so i searched if others have the same issue and only then i found out that others have this issue too. I also think that not all devices are affected by this "downgrade". Springloft Studio
has done more intensive research on this matter but it is not clear (to me atleast) why or if there is lowered anc performance in the mid range of sound - (voices)
