I hate when history videos say “as we know…”. NO WE DON’T. If we knew, we wouldn’t be watching the video.

Greetings! My ancestor sailed on the Mayflower, his name was Edward Doty, and he was an indentured servant of Stephen Hopkins. He was not a separatist, just wanted to go to the New World, but didn’t have any money, so he became an indentured servant and worked for Hopkins for a few years to pay back the cost of the ride there.

Hey, I'm a student from a german university and I'll give a presentation on monday about the pilgrims and the puritans in Plymouth and Massachusetts Bay Colony. Thanks for this short sweet video I can a bit relax between the mass of literature I had to reed! As I learned, the pilgrims (and later the puritans) had a very big impact with their religios traditions on present day US identities. :)

Great video! However, the Mayflower was funded by the London Company, not the Virginia Company. The Virginia Company funded the trip to Jamestown.
