In the fall of 1621, English settlers planned a feast to celebrate a successful corn harvest. No one at the time called it Thanksgiving, but this humble gathering would later be recast as one of the defining moments in American history.

"But we don’t think about the loss – we think about the abundance."

Truer words have never been spoken. People thank God for the abundance, but how many people thank Him for what He has brought them through?

My Ancestor Edward Doty was on the Mayflower in 1620, he was one of the signers of the Mayflower compact, he was an indentured servant, he was one to shaped the United States.

This was one of the most beautiful documentaries I've ever seen. Watched this on Amazon Prime on Thanksgiving.

This simple truth of "Thanksgiving" and how two such different groups of people shared - helped and tolerated each other (for 50 years) is better than any text book story or dry history lesson.

Thanksgiving is important. My ancestors survived and that is why I am alive today. 25% of the population of America is descended from the pilgrims. That is something to celebrate!

The 'first Thanksgiving' was held at BERKELEY PLANTATION on the James River, in VIRGINIA,
years before the 2nd wave of invading European christian terrorists set sail.
