The way you took the disc out will eventually damage your disc. There is a button on the centre spindle that will relive the pressure off of the centre of the disc, allowing you to take the disc out without stressing the disc.

you are supposed to press in on the center part the disc clips on to when removing the disc not just rip it out!!!

You should also press the button on the spindle that triggers the disc to release instead of prying it out along the edges. Kind of surprising seeing you remove the disc incorrectly in a video about what not to do with your GameCube, lol.

I’ve done this since I was child, it’s a miracle that I never had any problems. Thanks for the heads up though, I still have my GameCube after all theses years and play it when I’m feeling nostalgic.

The way you take out the disc here is far more detrimental to the console and disc itself than stopping the motor ever would be. When powered off, stopping it from spinning makes no difference. At least they got one thing right-- *never* touch the lens of any disc-based console. That is a very fragile part that can be easily disrupted or malfunction if tampered with.

That is NOT how you take a disc out! You push the center button to eject it.

3rd tip the middle silver piece is a button push it, don't yank the disc.

Maybe if the motor was still trying to spin the disc, but that can't happen. You're either turning the power off with the power button or cutting power to the motor when you open the tray. Either way, the motor isn't engaged and using your finger to stop the disc will do absolutely nothing to damage the system.
