Airtime isn’t a hidden stat - the amount of airtime you get is dependent on a ton of variables:
- Weight CLASS (determines the angle you go off the ramp ONLY if you perform a trick, and ONLY 3 different values for light, medium, and heavy)
- Inputs (determines your vehicle’s pitch (tilt), which modifies the strength of gravity as you fall)
- Speed (the higher your speed, the longer it takes for your horizontal speed to convert to vertical speed via gravity — this isn’t an explicit conversion, but for simplicity’s sake, it’s easier to think of it that way… basically slower vehicles fall faster and faster vehicles fall slower)
- Hitbox (Each vehicle has a different hitbox (characters have no effect on the hitbox) so depending on the vehicle you use it may be possible to land a few frames sooner or later than other vehicles just simply because one of the spheres in the hitbox are positioned in the right way)
- Suspension (This is actually an explicit stat which determines how bouncy the vehicle is, and thus how big an ejection it can get when bouncing off the ground in scenarios like RFH ejections, wallclips, high tricks, or drifts like this)

As someone who doesn't do time trials, Ultra Shortcuts have always been absolutely mind bending to me.
Like, imagine playing a game normally and thinking you're pretty good at it, and then some guys jumps over a wall a few times and wins two minutes before you can even register what happened!!!
Maybe it's time I start actually attempting these things.
