As long as you have breath in your body - you are not too old to start over. You are here for a reason.
It is my hope that you see this video, and it will motivate you to chase your dreams.

Life happens!!!! Trust me, I know, we ALL know, and you ARE NOT ALONE! I am 47 and I am FINALLY in a FNP program (20 yrs later)! But sooo what! I look at it as having 20 yrs of nursing experience in the bank that can be withdrawn as needed and applied toward my studies. I feel more confident than some of my younger classmate and it is noticed by my instructors. While working in a level 1 trauma center which is also a teaching hospital, I met a female 3rd yr resident who was SIXTY-EIGHT! I had the pleasure of speaking with her and I asked her why med school now? She said she grew up in a time and place where women were to marry, have babies, and keep their mouth shut. She wasn't allowed to finish school because she had to work to help support her brothers and sisters. She married thinking that was her way out but he wouldn't let her finish school. Once she was widowed, she attained her GED, started college classes, BS in Chemistry, MS Biochemistry, took her MCAT, applied to med school and got in. Her parting words to me were: You are only bound by YOU. Age is nothing but a number!

I am in my mid 50s... and I am a first semester nursing student. SURE, I wish I had switched careers earllier ... and MAN, I wish I did this when I was younger. But here I am and guess what... the future is coming whether I sit on my butt or I get up and pursue a dream. I told my teacher, "do NOT go easy on me, " and she isn't. But, I am continuing to get straight A's as I did through my pre-reqs. (By the way, am I the oldest in my class? nope!) - - And hey, those young folks in the class? Guess who they are asking for help and tutoring? :D

This is how I figure it... I WILL succeed in this endeavor. I WILL do INCREDIBLY well. I WILL be hired at the regional hospital in town, and then I will have about 8 years of full time nursing before they start to raise an eyebrow. After that, I plan to become a school nurse, and as a summer camp nurse too. I heard another older student is planning on working as a traveling nurse throughout a 1 hour each direction expanse and make BIG bucks (I MIGHT follow her into it).

I should mention that my father is only beginning to slow down now at 91. I've got plenty of time...why set down in the rocking chair yet? Best Wishes along your path!!

I am definitely the oldest in my NP class now...soon to be 57! A job lay off in my 55th year was a GIFT and I took 2-3 days to mourn and then turned on my heels bound to finish a dream I have had for 20 years! No this path is not easy at any age but age is not the real barrier...mind set is! We are never, never too old! For those feeling overwhelmed by a big goal, break it down into smaller steps and don't feel you need to see all the bends and twists in the road to know you will arrive at the desired destination in time. Love this message Lada!

Thx you so much for this. I'm a 35 soon to be 36 yr old struggling single mom who works 2 jobs. 1 of my jobs is at a hospital. Everyone at work is often telling me to go to nursing school. I pray and ask for a way financially often because it has been my life long dream to be a RN. Yet my children didn't choose this life so I put my dreams on the back burner for them. Thx again for the inspiration.

I'm a 39 year old single mom, disgusted with my life. I'm just changing my career path to nursing and hopefully will start the LPN program in August 2019. I don't plan to store until I obtain my NP. I a little nervous sometimes, just thinking the classes may be too hard, but I'm a very tough person. I have never given up!

It's never too old to start over! If you have the passion, discipline, and dedication...anything is possible if you put your mind to it! I will 60 years old in April. I am graduating college with my Associates degree in Science. I already have my LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license. In addition, I am applying to RN school in Fall 2019. Never stop dreaming! Believe it because you can achieve it!!! 😀💐👍

I so needed to see this video today. I have a BS and MS in other subjects but decided to go back last year to start on my nursing prerequisites. With being a single mother to my son, a caregiver to my grandmother and now taking care of my mother after her surgery, I felt like quitting. I kept thinking that maybe at my age i should be satisfied with the education I have and use them to my advantage because I feel so overwhelmed at times. But then my mom looked at me and told me I am only 34 yrs old. That I still have time to do what I am passionate about. I still had my doubts but you know what, I am not quitting. I have never been a quitter and I decided to not let my bad days overshadow what my true goals are. Thank you for this video. You are a true inspiration!

This is so encouraging! I made poor choices as a teen, became a teen mom dropped out of high school had more kids worked low end paying jobs .Until I realized the passion I always had for nursing .So hear I am 41 going for that GED this year so I can pursue my dreams of becoming a nurse. My kids are older I'm wiser and I'm tired of the struggle and doing things I don't have a passion for, so I asked myself do I won't to be doing this 5 yrs from know..No.! In 5 yrs I won't to be working in the field of nursing enjoying life.Thank you we are not to old.
