Class G Airspace Weather Minimums Helicopter Online Ground School.
Hello. I'm Kenny Keller, the creator of Helicopter Online Ground School. This is a video on the updated weather minimums in Class G for helicopters. I'm making this video to post for our members as we update the different presentations within our site.
My reference for this presentation is the Fair Aim 2016. We go to 91.155 under Part 91. We're going to scroll up to Class G under the heading For Helicopters. We have For Helicopters, day and night. The day is 1/2 statute mile, clear of clouds. Night, 1 statute mile, clear of clouds.
Next, we go to more than 1,200 feet above the surface, but less than 10,000 feet MSL. Day is 1 statute mile, and the 5 1 2 rule; 500 feet below, 1,000 feet above, 2,000 feet horizontal. For the night, more than 1,200 feet above the surface, but less than 10,000. 3 statute miles, and again the 5 1 2 which is 500 feet below, 1,000 feet above, 2,000 feet horizontal.
Then, we have more than 1,200 feet above the surface at or above 10,000 feet MSL. Which is then 5 statute miles, 1,000 feet below, 1,000 feet above, and 1 statute mile horizontally from the clouds.
Again, that's Class G for helicopters. If you want to look us up yourself or tab it in your Far Aim manual, 91.155 Basic VFR Weather Minimums. Add any comments you'd like to make down below, and we'll see you in the next video.
