This HP gaming laptop is getting some upgrades! This computer is running slow because of the old mechanical HDD that’s being used as a boot drive. So I’m going to replace it with an NVMe to take this pc to the next level. Along with some more RAM, a new battery, and thermal paste on the CPU and GPU, this tech may be 4 years old, but it’s running better than new. Just a little work can take your outdated technology and bring it up to date!

The free 8gb ram upgrade made me smile. Our shop does that too, i.e. one older woman didnt understand just how much faster her laptop would be with an ssd and me and the other techs were tired of waiting on updates and program installs with her 7200rpm drive so I replaced it for free with an ssd. We got a call the next morning almost panicking if we hsd given her someone elses laptop because her laptop was doing everything so much faster. We had also given extra ram as she had ddr2 so we had plenty of extra ram sticks laying around. She was so thankful that she brought in a giant box of home made Christmas treats at the end of december for us, and even better, she referred us to her scrabble friend group and family and we have had great growth through them.

I am SO glad that spinning drives have been (almost?) completely phased out in new devices being sold. At least as boot drives. They're still OK for secondary storage for some uses.
