Cinnamon 4.6 on Leap. Strange because I installed Debian Cinnamon and it has Cinnamon 4.8.6.

I have a question that might have an obvious answer, but I'm not sure. Our roommate gave me his laptop since he's not using it anymore. It's an HP-Pavilion G7-1219wm. It has 4gb of ram (upgradable to 8). AMD Duo (2 cores, 2 threads) @ 1.3-1.6ghz. It had a hdd, but I switched it out for an ssd. I know it's not going to be super fast with that core count, core speed, and memory. However, it seems way slower than it should be. I looked in the bios and there's no options other than usb legacy enable/disable and boot order. I am using Pop OS, but I'd be willing to switch to a different distro only if there'd be a significant difference. Any ideas?
