What capsule did you use? From what I've read in several other places, E-V has not had capsules for these for many years. What capsule did you substitute?

great mic ! - what mic element did you use, as i just got one to take the element out and to restore a ev RE-15 ..takes a small 32mm and short and new ones are way to tall..and read they use the same capsule in the ev 660 664 re 10 15 16 18 ..but u got room to put in there in that, but still would have to be skinny enough.
but yeah thats what im ganna do too...sounds great !

I have four or five of those and some other EV mics. Just curious what is the most a complete resto would cost? I need to figure if it’s worth it. Including six 664a LowZ mics I use for my bands live PA.

I have 2 E/V 664s, and they sound great. Why would you want to replace the element with something newer? If the element is dead yes, change it out. If you love the sound of a modern mic, just get your self a modern mic.

I have one that is gold plated, did it ever come this from the factory, or would it have been customize for someone?
