Michael Farabee demoing the EV-V-1 vintage ribbon microphone. This microphone has a resto-mod job done to it. It sounds as good as any new high quality ribbon mic today and just as good as any of the RCA mics ever have. I should know I own and have repaired quite a few.

What did you do about the old screw on plug that's on there? did you just run a balanced cable straight out of the microphone instead?

wow Amazing, Im restoring my v1 I bought on ebay, my question is: when Im putting the ribbon on should I not nouch the side walls at all? so that the ribbon is only suspended between the two bay screws? God bless, A.A

Do all mics have transformers? My buddy found a super old electro voice V1 hi-z ribbon mic from the 20's or 30's and he was trying to tell me that the later V1 ribbons from the 50's had transformers and the early ones dont. Just wondering if that was possible
