7 years ago, and it's still the best video I can find on this subject. Love your quick tips.

Actually to be even more frugal, you can collect the leftover paints that you scrape up from your palette and work them together into a lovely neutral grey which you can use in a later painting or you can use to tone a canvas which you can then dry and store for a future painting. The grey which you collect and mix can be stored in a container in the freezer so that it remains usable, even in the refrigerator if you put a bit of Saran Wrap or waxed paper over it down in the container to form a skim over it so that oxygen can't get to it; then put a lid on it. Since it's made of the pigments you usually use, it is quite harmonious in your painting. Also you don't have to worry about putting out so much paint if you know you can recycle it.In fact, every year Gamblin collects all the leftover expensive pigments caught in their air filtration system and so as not to waste them or pollute the environment recycles them into a color they call Torrit Grey, which of course differs slightly every year. Then in the fall they run a painting contest in which all the entries must be painted using that year's Torrit Grey and only black and white pigments in addition. They give away a free 37 ml tube with a purchase of Gamblin paint at art stores. Last year they gave away 11, 000 tubes. You can see last year's winners and a gallery of all entries at gamblincolors.com. The prizes are quite nice.

I love watching your videos even though I doubt I'll ever do half of these projects. You just have such a fun personality that makes me look forward to these videos.

Great tips my friend. By the way I started using a hard plastic sheet in my plein air box and it works pretty good. I've seen other Artists using glass. Also just a note that I'm 41% happier after I watch your videos. You're a gem Lindsay. ~ Marty

Thank you! XO Was worried about having the colors from the previous paint session staining the palette, but you've eased my mind Lindsay.

This is a great tip. I haven't gotten into oils yet, but I do try to keep things neat. Thanks for the tip.

Oh, that's so cool, mine are 50/50 krylon gray. The one you do color coordinates with your personal palette.

I use a coffee table with a glass top as the old dried paint is easy to scrape off.
A secondhand one is cheap. The glass is toughened with smoothed edges.
You could detach the glass and just use that I suppose.

I always feel guilty about all the paper towels I use, but I don't think there is an alternative or a simply answer.

Another question, would you 'polish' the back of the palette as well? I mean does it need conditioning?...at least when it is still new?

Hi Lindsey, can you write what supplies you used for this painting? What type and brand of paints brushes and liquids did you use? Thank you!
