Bad Ad Placements

Before I made a living by shrieking Furby noises, I sorted ads for the local paper and can confirm this happens a lot. We ran a half-page story once about someone who drowned in a river; what huge advert sat just below it? Swimming lessons.

_"Mentally, I am here."_ _shows Mario content_

I am always here mentally. All of the time. Wahoo

The “come a little closer” as was intentional, seeing as it’s funeral service. Also, the severed foot thing is actually because those feet were attached to people who drowned, but their shoes protected their feet from getting eaten by fish like the rest of the body. Still morbid, but at least it’s not a murderer with a penchant for foot removal

i remember watching a video about a woman who was detailing what it was like to live with a condition that makes her grow a beard, how she's overcome insecurities and gained confidence, etc. and the ad that played before it was a hair removal ad

update: i went to go watch it again and it was a beard growth ad

i can not make this up yall

The "Come a little closer" in the subway was actually intentional and an ad for a funeral home. (their details are in smaller print on the ad)
While it was intended as nothing but dark humor, it was quickly removed after protests from suicide prevention advocates.

this is like organic, raw, grass-fed comedy. nobody wrote the jokes, they just accidentally happened and we found them and shared them. I love this type of humour

The worst ad placement I remember is that a fastfood restaurant had a limited time fused burger... The very second it ended there was a news commercial about conjoined twins that were born fused at the face. I try not to think about it, but it always pops back up in my mind when "bad ad placement" is mentioned.

bad ad placements, for example YouTube ads on first aid tutorials

Perfect example of it I had: an article describing a gruesome death of a 6 years old boy torn to shreds by a farm feeding machine. Slotted perfectly in the middle of the article was... an ad for minced meat on sale at the local supermarkets.... 😬😬😬😬😬

I don't know how nobody in the process of putting up a sign saying "come a little closer" on the other side of subway tracks took a look at it and said "yeah maybe not" lol

Several years ago there was a head of a federal state in germany called Erwin Teufel (a somewhat unfortunate name since Teufel is german for devil). What made his name even funnier is the fact that he stepped down from office the day a new pope got elected. And so it came as it had to come that there were newsstories next to each other like:
Benedict elected new pope
Teufel steps down from office

I remember watching a documentary about the Backpacker Murders in the Australian Outback. The sponsor for the channel was a travel company, and before and after every break I saw an advert encouraging me to go backpacking in the Australian Outback. Funnily enough I didn’t want to.

I was watching a channel that switched over to more mature advertisements at around 1AM. One time, when that happened, an ad interrupted another ad, resulting in a car ad promising to be the only luxury car offering MALE ENHANCEMENT.

It’s likely due to algorithms on websites most of the time. It sees a key word and says “HEY, this would make a GREAT place to put an ad for a third party phone charger” not realizing “charged” and “cord” are the found key words because it’s an article on a man ‘charged’ with murder for strangling someone else with an extension ‘cord.’

I once saw an ad with Garfield on a billboard but it was smiling down at a graveyard, holding a thumbs up

I was watching a video by a youtuber who got severely burned at a restaurant, she was telling her story... and in the middle of the video, she got cut off by an ad that went: "DON'T WANT TO GET BURNED?" (It was for a server that searches for the best prices across eshops lol)

This reminded me of someone on twitter who made a paper hat out of newspaper for their child and later noticed all the terrible news, like "Man admits to beating cat to death in fit of rage"

3:08 That one's intentional though, if you look closely you can see it's for a funeral house and it's absolutely genius

the "come a little closer" one in a train is definitely intentional, since it's an ad for a funeral service

I saw an article a few days ago about a couple who came home to see a stray dog outside their front gate. Skipping the long details, they eventually adopted it. And one of the ads on the article was about dog breeds you should never adopt
