We are going really advanced today, but wow Power BI can be used as such an advanced analytical tool. This is just another perfect example of exactly that.

Here's we are attempting to work out the cross selling opportunities within our datasets. This formula and data modeling technique can be used across any dataset with the same setup.

This isn't that easy but certainly give it a go.

Hi Sam, first of all BIG THANK YOU for all the great show cases you record and upload! Any beginner in DAX - like me - can learn A LOT from YOU. Thank you! There was a period of time when I watched at least 1 video per day you uploaded to learn DAX more and more. You are a great teacher and the examples are also great.

Watching this video I have just realized I could fine tune my measures I built yesterday by using the calculatetable function in order to achieve exactly what I wanted. I am also interested like @Frank G. to see how the measure "same product selected" is built. Thanks!

Thanks Sam. Only a quick question about the variable of MultiPurchaseEaluation. You removed all product filters and then activated the other relationship, so I think it should only return the customers who bough the product selected in the filter product table. Maybe I have missed sthg, but appreciate if you could help explain. thanks.

this is great.... a little complex for me coz i ideally have no "registered customers" per se but instead I am using system generated receipt numbers that are unique per purchase. working with about 2.5m+ transactions and product database of 150k+ units. i'm sure the underlying principle still holds. still trying to crack it. i'm sure i'll figure out what i'm doing wrong.

thanks Sam.

Outstanding video I'm curious as to how you would get the product selection filter to filter that way? I've never seen filters work like that.

This is wonderful. just I wanted to know is there any possibility to have the intersect value of customer combinations. I tried adding but it gives the value of either for Row/Column.

Also, using INTERSECT function is another option avaiable.

Sam, great video as always! Very glad I found your channel. This video is of particular interest to me as my company is trying to evaluate cross-selling opportunities for our core customers.

I have one question in regards to the Filter Product table. How did you create it? Did you simply duplicate the table in the Query Editor then create the relationship to the fact table?

I tried this method: I created the relationship, made the join inactive, but when I tried to dump the Product IDs into the canvas from the Filter Product table, nothing came up.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

its wonderful... but is there any option to do the basket analysis like we did with excel....what i meant is instead of selecting each product it must come automatically that which were the products brought together mostly .... because in retail we will have huge number of products and it is not practical to filter products one by one to find the cross selling opportunities

I have some data which has customer/sales details who purchased only one of the product out of 4. There is no customer records who bought more than one product. Will I be able to prepare cross selling report? Do I need customer data who bought more than one product?
