Hello!
How are those worms doing with the fruit cake? Do they like it as much as some of the Castings Crew does? Or are they turning up their non-existent noses at it like some other Castings Crew? Let’s find out!
Here’s the link to the Fruit Cake bin video:

Christmas in July for the Worm Bin!

Now we move on the Breeder Bins!!
I’ve run a few experiments using different bedding and different worm density to see how these factors impact cocoon production. Come along and see what results I’ve seen 👍🤩.

Thanks for watching. I appreciate your support with likes and comments and subscribing 💕❤️💕

Hi Jayne and Cameraman, that fruit cake still looks yummy 😋 Great information on your breeder bins. Doing these experiments are not only a bit of fun, they are actually an important gift of knowledge 🧑‍🎓 Have fun, Mark : )

Thanks Jane! I just got back from vacation and had my breederbin filled up with my breeders. I use smaller bins because of the storing space. So I checked them after 28 days and it was terrible 😮. A lot of them died (may because of the plastic I use too. But it was really bad smelling and there were only about 100 cocoons and I guess, half of the number of breeders😢
So you’re explanation of the self regulating I keep in mind! For now I check my bins every week at minimum. Also great to hear I must use fine material for bedding to maximize cocoon production 😊 I need lots of cocoons😂
Thanks again Jane and cameraman for your time to educate us!
By the way, were do you bay you’re bins? In the Netherlands I can’t find your beautiful bins with curving bottom to buy…
Greeting. Peter

Most people can only take small nibbles of fruitcake too! Re: your one cycle breeder bin, maybe they breed less because there's less stress when there's chunky bits to crawl around too. Worms are amazing!

Hi Jayne! Love your videos, your style of chatting with us while pumping out the information is a rare talent. I’m new to worms & am enjoying it a lot. 👍 to your cameraman too. He’s great at the close ups.

Thanks for sharing. In my systems when I feed one side, I leave it uncover until the worms take over the new food. They will devour that cake for shure.

Hi Jayne. Thanks again for sharing your video. I guess the fruit cake is not their favourite snack 😂

I was always afraid to mix homemade worm chow in the bedding like you do cause of patient poisoning that I hear so much about so I just put it on top of my food scraps what do you think . Keep up with the good videos learning alot .

Wish we could have some of your heat. It’s not getting about 16/18c here and light rain but not a a lot overall of it.
Meaning stuff isn’t really growing and it’s like sorta autumn weather. Then we get a nice day or two where it’s 20-25c and dry and that and then it goes back for a week.
Worms are just maintenance level. And just plodding on.
So they are ok. Hoping to get some of the smaller ones harvested this week and the worms put into one of the under bed boxes, so I can just be maintaining 1 bin instead of 4 smaller bins.
But then once I pull the breeders that will be 2 bins of cacoons I hope.

I love your bins they always seem to be so lively. Where do you get your plastic to put on top of your bins ?

As to your thoughts on breeder bin bedding, and how this impacts breeding results: I'm inclined to agree with you. My observations come from how my different species of worms create their own environments in my worm tower. The ENCs like it rather a lot wetter than the Wigglers, and the Indian Blues will often be with the Wrigglers. However, I'll find cocoons throughout the whole bin, and barely ever where the mate. Obviously, in a single level they don't have the choice about where the cocoons are going, but also in the tower their breeding 'environment' is all castings, so unlike in the bins, mine are traveling the tower to eat. It's fascinating stuff!

I just love all of your videos and your willingness to try new experiments and share your experiences. I’m just beginning my worm journey and having a ball can’t wait til I have enough to experiment with.
Have you ever tried feeding them fruit and veggie puree, or a mash of some sort? I ask because I have a lot of scraps collected but it’s taking up too much freezer space. I was thinking about freezing a puree in ice cube trays and dropping some in the bin. Just wondering if you’ve had experience or thoughts about it?

Hi Jayne. Interesting. Do you find much difference between oyster shell grit and egg shell grit ? Thank you.

Hii!, I i have a question, I hope you can help me (I don't know what to do).

I have two worm bins (medium size), and the past week I've noticed a lot of I believe are fungus gnats (they doesn't look like fruit flies), and my bins are now with those little monsters 🤣(sorry, I don't like them), I can't find mosquitos bits or mosquito dunks anywhere (even online, I'm not from USA), What else can I do?.
Diatomaceous earth works? How do I use it?, what else can I do? 😭

Thank you!!

Hey Jayne, firstly I want to say that I saw you'd replied to me on your other video on about the fruit cake, but I haven't been able to read the whole reply, or respond to it as I've been having major issues with YouTube, so sorry about that.

Lots of commercials on your Chanel. More than usual. I put you on for background noise as I work. There was about as many minutes of commercials as you Jane. Hope u are getting some kickback from that. See you next video.
