If you're feeling signs of hypo arousal such as zoning out, dissociation, numbing out, or starting to "freeze", you can try these techniques to get you back into your Window of Tolerance:

1. Get into your senses
→ My favorite way to do this is through freezing a hacky sack, or balloon full with dry grains (this can help add an auditory element). This method offers you cold exposure - which we'll talk more about the benefits of in another video in this series. You can roll the hacky sack or balloon on your collarbones, place it on the back of your neck, or simply hold it in your hands to start feeling some grounding back into your body. Lastly, I also like to put my favorite calming essential oils (such as lavender and mint) on the hacky sack or balloon as another way to get into my senses.

2. Full-body rub or pat down
→ You can do this through putting on lotion, Gorilla Thumps (as shown in the video), or simply bringing gentle, comforting touch to yourself through massaging your feet or arms. Remember that none of these methods should hurt!

3. Activating your physical balance
→ This can be done through Sumo Sways (as shown in the video), or any other activity that helps you focus on your physical balance. This could look like utilizing a balance board, riding a bike, taking very slow steps, standing on one foot at a time and alternating, etc.
