Very good sometime we use transitive action verb like play, eat, drink without object in the sentences while spoken English for example....
PersonA- where are your children?
Person B-they are playing in the garden.
In this example 'play' is transitive action verb but it has not taken object like they are playing 'cricket' in the garden. is it ok to use transitive action verb without object?
If it is ok then what to say to verb'play'in below sentence.
They are playing in the garden.
In above sentence....the verb 'play'....is it transitive or intransitive.

Transitive verbs take direct objects and intransitive ones don’t have any objects but prepositional phrases can come at end of the sentences.
