Climate Scientists are Very Confused.

Over the course of 2024, global temperatures hit record highs, yet again. Climate scientists are beginning to worry that temperatures are increasing faster than their models led them to expect. A paper that recently appeared said that the reason for the rapid warming is a reduction in certain types of clouds. If this is correct, and if that’s a trend, it’s very bad news. Welcome to 2025.

I feel like for proper science we should probably have a control planet.

We’ll just call it “dark heat” (not to be confused with “dark energy”) and continue adjusting the model parameters to match the observations.

On the bright side, the fact that we may have less time to do the energy transition than previously estimated is completely inconsequential, because we weren't going to do that anyway! 😂

Please do not blame these scientists. I have done 45 years atmospheric and climate research and my colleagues are persons of high integrety. As we know, since Arrhenius, the spread in predicted temperature forecasts dit not shrink much. Clouds are exceptionally difficult to model. Political pressure on scientists is high. Bringing the true message is almost impossible. I count at least 5 positive hlobsl warming feedbacks and hardly 3 negative ones. Glaciations are terminated at a great speed, which simply means that present climate is already fully out of control.

"Climate scientists are wrong about how bad the climate change is. It's worse."

What a lovely way to start a year!

Basically, the prediction models show that the answer to "how bad?" is "yes".

So your new year's resolution is to focus less on what's going wrong and more on what's going right, but your first video is about how the world is going to end in a mass extinction global warming apocalypse? I approve.

You only need to comprehend one thing: all our systems exclusively incentivize destruction and pollution and these systems have so much inertia that they are impossible to be changed.

The inability to look the problem in the face points towards a blind spot in human psychology that allowed this problem to form in the first place.

I think this video just broke your New Year's resolution.

Thankyou Sabine for the introduction to planet wild and paying the 1st months subscription. It feels good to be doing something, even if its just a little

I sure have noticed that the winter snow is rare in December but common in January to February in Sweden.

I monitor the climate where I live because the sport I coach is dependant on river conditions. The ice has been breaking up at least a month sooner than it did just 15 years ago and some years lately it doesn’t freeze up until 6 weeks later than it did over the same time period. We used to cross country ski but it’s rare for conditions to exist for this now. I don’t shovel much snow anymore when just 10 years ago I had huge mounds of snow around my house from shovelling. Curiously summers are noticeably cooler with just a week or so of heat wave. I know this well because I do not have air conditioning and cannot sleep if it is above 22 C at night.

your maps at 1'21 and 2'52 show very high temp increase over Japan. I confirm this as the last few years brought NO clouds, no rain during the entire month of August. This caused big dieoffs of plants and even animals such as crows and wild boar here in the country. Agriculture is extremely affected. We even had temporary rice shortages in September. We must adapt by creating and filling reservoirs during the June-July rainy season and become more like

I have broken a glass with a hammer, but it was yesterday and now I'm researching the broken pieces but it's being difficult because all kind of glass reflections are happening, and I've detected the light changes on mornings and all kinda of weird stuff. What happened to my glass? I'll ask those kids over there...

The reason why there are less low level clouds is simple and obvious.
Clouds form when the drop in temperature at higher elevations is big enough to turn gaseous water into water vapour. As the atmosphere heats up the height at which water vapour forms must rise. So fewer low level clouds, feeding back into faster atmosphere heating.
