I got my Australian semi license 50 years ago by going into the local/country police station, filled out some forms, paid some (little) money, driving test was 4 left hand 90 degree turns around the block, one or two gear changes . Passed . I could now legally driver a truck pulling a triple road train (3 x 40 foot trailers) !!
Very different now but it seems a very big mess with overseas drivers basically being able to buy their license or given a license by the company that sponsored them to come to Australia . Can be expensive if full training is given by proper trainers

What a difference in prices, only the driver card here in the Netherlands already costs €125, - / £107, 46
not to mention the prices to get your C, and then your C + E

Hi Ashley, I did my medical with D4Drivers and it cost £55, had already done an eyetest as I knew that would fail me to start with. I passed my theory test with a score of 99/100 but had to take a second hazard perception test, when I passed my car test there wasn't even a theory test nevermind a hazard perception test 😳 I have been driving class 2 for just over a year now and my confidence is increasing, just wish I had done it sooner

Driver Training in Ireland cost is as follows

Class 2 £1000 for 5 days driving of two routes a day plus reversing. That also includes the test fee.

Class 1 is the same cost plus coupling and uncoupling exercise.

Thanks for making the video .After 25+ years of driving a lorry, class one, tankers and hiab crane, i promise you, don't waiste your time . The money is not worth the hours you will work, your company will expect you to work weekends and any hours they want, you'll be hassled by bored police/ cameras and the general public who want everything thats delivered in a lorry ( thats absolutely everything) but wont give you an inch in traffic and think its ok to verbally abuse you and drive dangerously around you . Over the last 25 years ive seen all respect for HGV drivers completely disappear, oh and that's before we talk about the government screwing each and every driver another £100 a year( plus the days pay you'll loose taking a days course, to tell tou how to drive from someone with no more experience than you ) for CPC training. It will destroy your family as you'll never see them, and your health will suffer as sitting all day isnt good for you, i run every day to keep healthy but many drivers i see amaze me by passing any medicals. If this doesn't put you off the good luck my friends 🤗

Would love to get CE myself i have C right now with the tachy card and YKB, not sure what is called in English but it allows me to transport goods for others for pay, i also have ADR or dangerous goods, but yeah to get the heavy trailer it would land me around 2200 pounds give or take with driving lessons and tests, not terrible but not something i have in my pocket either.

45 years man and boy, always liked driving, but the way drivers are treated by companies, distribution centres, and the General public has got worse year on year, great responsibility little reward, long hours, Aged 19 class 3, Aged 23 class one in the 80s.

Question if you’d be so kind. I’ve just passed my Car to E fast track and you’re bang on with the costs. My question is the 35 hours CPC do I have do that now or can I do that over the next 5 years. I’ve got my CPC module 4 already.

My god, people are literally priced out of getting a job, same with the security industry, hundreds of pounds just to work 12 hours, then people wonder why many would prefer death to working. I used to be a class 2 driver, never really liked the job, but this has firmly put me off re applying. I don't want to g oon he dole but literally it is that or just top myself.

I'm looking into getting my class 1 and was wondering if people get trained in manual lorry's or automatic? Are most hgv's automatic nowadays anyway?

I assume it’s cheaper to go straight for the Class 1 rather than 2 then 1?

I paid £3400 to get a class c+e license. I went from a car license to class 1 which is arctic.

Wow
Took my CE decades ago and with no theory CPC or hazard perception, as these were not required, all in all it cost me £450.
Jacked driving in five years ago as money and conditions were so terrible.
Not a career I'd advise to anyone.
If you have that sort of money to train yourself do something else for sure.
