Our local service station charges £6 for key fob battery replacement. I buy the cells for pennies and do the job myself. The garage only ever sees the backup key, which is strictly 'insert and twist'. It's saved us at least £120, over the years. What's even more annoying is the £90+ plus VAT (depending upon the car make and model) which is charged for replacement wireless keys, and which contain a small circuit board which can be purchased, retail, for less than £6.

The owner had a swim with the whole remote/key. Doesnt work now. Do you think the battery replacemt will be enough or do we need to replace the whole thing? (its expensive!)

2.9volts will give a low battery warning. I put in a cheap battery which didn't work . It measured (3.4v)!

The 2025 battery is so numbered because it is 20mm in diameter and 2.5mm thick.  
Guess what thickness a 2032 is? you're right - 1/8" inch
