Laptimes are affected by a ton of tiny little factors that add up to huge differences in the end.

If you isolate each thing in motorsport, it looks like they don't cost you much, but it's incredibly difficult to extract the best performance out of so many little factors at the same time, every lap.

Here are the 5 reasons my student was more than HALF A SECOND slower in just one corner:

1 -> Track Usage on corner entry
2 -> Track Usage mid-corner
3 -> Track Usage on exit:
This one being super important because if you can get back on power earlier there's a lot of time to gain)

4 -> Initial Braking application:
The quicker your brake application, the more reliable your braking references will be, since the car will stop similarly every lap. If your braking application is slow, there's a big chance the car will stop in an unpredictable and inconsistent way, making you lose the apex more times than you want. Super important tip for consistency!!

5 -> Trail Braking.

Motorsports is all about rotation. Trail braking guarantees that you extract the maximum rotation from the car and allows you to brake deeper into the corner, making you gain time both on entry AND exit. If you don't trail braking... start thinking about it!

The most important thing is knowing what you get a penalty for and what you don’t. The biggest reason for most of my wins is that the competition doesn’t know which curbs you can and cannot pass

So you’re 100% on brakes in the 86 Suellio? I’m always under the impression 100% is never optimal in iRacing, but I’m very much still learning.

Way more than usual thanks to your fantastically informative and well put together videos. You’ve inspired me to dig deeper. Nice one. 👊😉

I'm a GT7 player, but I'm curious as to what these green and red lines are?

When i try to apply my brakes faster and get it to that 80%~ they lock up on me. It seems almost like that in every car

I don't play iracing, but I always wondered what those throttle spikes are, while you are under braking
