Love my XT1 and don't regret it at all, yes the video mode is way of date and the XT2 has 4k etc but it's an amazing experience very much like an old school Nikon. The Fuji glass is great too and the images are sharp and contrasty . THE XT1 is totally recommended especially now its cheaper than ever.

Great.. I sold all my nikon gear for the Same reason; too big and collecting dust. Bought the X-T20 with the 18-55 and the 27 pancake lens. Love the setup and I am out shooting again ...However a week ago I bought a used X-T1 with both the battery grip and the extra grip for equivalent 430 Euros!! There are pros and cons with both cameras, But I love EM both. I think it will be easier manually focusing with my soon arriving Samyang and 7Artisans manual lenses with the X-T1. I am totally sold with the Fuji experience... photography is Fun again. The one thing I really miss in the X-T1 is the Acros simulation.
Thanx for the great review... and Ted is a cool dude ;)

I just purchased the X-T1 2 days ago. I can’t wait. I was using the Fuji X-E1. I mostly shoot Film so this will be a nice upgrade from the xtrans I.

Funny, I sold my Canon gear to fund my XT-1 too! I still have my Nikon gear but this is my first mirrorless. I’m keeping my Nikon D3 and all its lenses and using an adaptor on my Fuji for now, going to get a Fuji lens next pay day. So glad to see other photographers that aren’t filthy rich either, LOL. I was talking to other photographers and when I told them I was buying an XT-1 they were all “why?!” “That camera is OLD”. Yeah I guess the good pics it took when it was released suck now.... or it’s a phone that gets bogged down with the latest software and you need to replace it every two years (not that I do that either, rockin’ an iPhone 6! LOL). I love my XT-1, takes amazing pics and I only paid $300 for it! (paid a little more because it is in perfect condition with the box and everything)

Despite the fact I purchased XT2, I still have the XT1; still got it, still use it.
On second thought, I didn't get rid of ANY Fuji item I ever purchased :-)
I've been told about a new firmware that enables this camera to customise that red video button into something else - thank you for reminding me of that fact, course I still didn't change that firmware; back in 2014/2015, impossibility to do that was quite a nightmare, since video features of XT1 are quite useless.
The combination of mechanical and electronic shutter (MS + ES) means that the camera will work in mechanical mode normally, and when the amount of gathered light is too great it will switch to electronic shutter since it goes up to 1/32000 of a second, while a mechanical one ends by 1/8000. Hope this helps, cheers...

Nice review. So the 27 mm f2.8 is a 40 mm equivalent? I believe the Fujifilm X-T1 is an APS format camera. I shoot Nikon D4s and just purchased the Nikon Z9. I use the trinity lens set which is the 14-24 mm f2.8, 24-70 f2.8 mm and 70-200 mm f2.8. I also bought a 300 mm f2.8 AF-I. Heavy gear I must say but it gets the job done. I did buy a used Fujifilm X-T1 and it is a pretty nice camera. I have had issues with focus but I will try your shutter speed min and area focus when I shoot motion. Why did I buy a Fujifilm? I wanted to do miniature photos and bought a shift tilt lens that mounts to an X mount camera and a G mount Nikon which is an F mount with no aperture control. Nikon's tilt shift lens is very expensive but I may pickup a used one next year.

As a film shooter this is exactly the review I was looking for. Thank you very much!

It reminds me of my old Marshal amp which didn't stop at 10 on the volume knob, it went all the way to 11:) .The XT1 is still a great camera.

Just got my X-T1 from eBay for €386 (mint condition) and a new kit lens 18-55 for €387. I spend years buying the latest kit paying top prices and new. I find it way more pleasing to stay one step behind regardless if it’s a car or a camera. You will get way more bang for your buck and won’t have to worry if anything is scratched. The used kit lens prices are way to close to the new price so I got a white box lens from Ireland. Next up are the 35 F2.0 and 16 F1.4.

Enjoy! That's a great camera, especially for the price. I had mine until selling to MPB just last month, and I've taken some of the best photographs I've ever taken with it in the time I had it. They're really a wonderful camera.

You might want to check out fringer adapter that allows Canon EF/EF-S lenses to mount on the Fuji XF mount and maintain auto-focus. Google Fringer EF-FX adapter. It won't be as good as a native lens, but it also means you don't need to sell everything if you don't want to (or if there's not a Fuji lens equivalent, e.g. EF 135 f/2).

Great review. I have been shooting with this camera for about 2 years now and absolutely love it. I generally prefer to use MF lenses, a particular favourite is the Micro Nikkor 55mm 2.8 My only auto focus lens is the 18-55 IS lens, it's a brilliant walk about lens. If you are thinking about flash, I would highly recommend the Godox TT350F and X1TF they work like a dream if you allocate the front Fn button to flash menu. If you use Lightroom you can also access the film simulations rather than the preset Adobe standard when editing your raw files. I hope you enjoy shooting with this camera as much as I do.

Very good review and well balanced - I moved from Canon DSLRs a few years ago when the Xpro1 which I still have an enjoy - I bought a new XT1 about two years ago and its been a fantastic camera and suits my needs perfectly - Fuji actually re-skined the entire body as the rubber skin started to loosen up and that was with light use - the work was done outside warranty and at no cost to me - so super customer service and thats important. I was tempted to upgrade to the XT2 and I just couldn't convince myself to buy it, despite the fact that its a fantastic camera - equally so is the XT1

I've been using the X-T1 ever since my old Pentax kit was burgled. The Fujifilm is the digital camera I had wished existed for years, with the array of manual controls. The glass in the Fujifilm lineup is superb, and I barely miss my old Pentax Limited lenses. I see no need to upgrade the X-T1 body any time soon.

Great video and just became addicted to your channel. The combined mechanical and electronic shutter is useful when the camera needs a faster shutter than1/4000 to expose correctly, like on a super sunny day

I just purchased an xt1 with grip and extra battery for 350 us, with 6k shutter I wanted something as a camera I can be rough with and not think about being so carefull as I am with my xt3 and xt30, I hate changing lenses out in the field like for airshows etc. I can keep my 10-24 on the xt30 and my 100-400 on the xt3, and or if the wife wants to use the xt30 i'll have my second body. Love the fuji system, went all out from canon still have some left over lenses that need to go. love the weight factor and size. and its simplicity is fun again. god bless

Watching this video at the start felt like it could have been made by me! I've pretty much made up my mind about trading in my Nikon gear for the Fuji system, essentially an X-T2 with an X-T1 for back up with a few lenses. I have the Nikon FE and love this camera, but I don't want to shoot film all the time, partly because of the expense, but also because I like the instant usability of digital files. Great video, for the first half. I didn't feel the need to watch all the menu section so I skipped that bit :-)
