Finally!!! I have never been able to grasp why so many Australians and Kiwi's fish with the handle on the wrong side. You and Sammy Hitzke get it right. Unless 95% of down under guys are left handed they are using the spinning reel with the handle on the wrong side.

Fully agree! I am right handed and have more control and strength in my right arm so that does all the working of the lure and fighting the fish. Dumb hand just has to do circles.

I do both. Grew up fishing spinning reels right-handed down under but always used my left hand on the rod (not a "switcher" post-bite like a lot of people are). Up here in the US unless you are HSVJ for AJ's or something where you need your strongest and most coordinated hand/arm on the handle virtually all charter boats (and private) have the spinning outfits rigged lefty with a few rigged right for the 14 % of people that are lefties. I prefer conventional reels anyway unless there is a lot of casting involved so it is kind of moot for me. I did fish with a guy last April using an "underhead" conventional reel (Japanese high end jigging set up). He was fishing it righty jigging over a wreck for AJ's in the Keys. All well and good right up until the point he got monstered and driven to his knees but couldn't lay the foregrip (and there wasn't much of that to begin with) down on the gunwale. He had to flip it over and fish lefty winding backwards. Fair go though he almost landed it but then a tax collector showed up. At least he got his $80 jig back and a big old head for a photo.

Glad to see this! I learned to fish reeling left handed in Europe Germany and never understood why its here in NZ the other way around, I think there reel left handed in the UK too. Always feel like an alien when fishing with some kiwis. Struggled one time a bit hooking up to a good Kingie reeling with the right hand on a charter and holding the rod with my weaker left arm.
Thanks for all the great videos

The way I learned was left-handed for spinning reels and right-handed for conventional reels. By the way I am right-handed

the hand swap is the reason i do not watch ausie youtubers. it pisses me off. I see them loose GT becuase they slam when their lure hits the water. those bozos are swapping their hands and miss their fish.
