Serious question for any and all who
speak & understand Romanian fluently:

One thing that always confused me
was the ending of Dracula's name...
which ends in the (feminine) letter "a".

Vlad-III inherited his sobriquet name / title 'Dracula'
(lit: "son of the dragon") from his father,
Vlad II Dracul of Wallachia.

This is where I'm stuck and a bit confused
as far as the grammar of his name
'Dracula' is concerned.

Let me explain:

Considering that Vlad-III...
--was the son and namesake of Vlad-II Dracul....
--and that Romanian is a Latin-based language...
--and that Latin-languages often use gender-specific
vowels such as the letter "a" in the feminine
and the letter "o" as the masculine...

it would appear to me
(at least from the point of view
as an English-speaker)...

that it would be
more grammatically
proper & correct that
Vlad-III's name 'Dracula'...

would (or should) end
with the masculine vowel "o"
specifically because of
of his gender as male.

but, as it has turned out...

the ("masculine"??) name
of the man who was
the son and namesake
of Vlad 'Dracul'...

ends with the feminine "a" as "Dracul...a"
(and not in the masculine "o" as "Dracul...o"
as one might expect).

Am I missing here...
or am I just over-thinking it??

Thanks
("Mulţumesc!!")
in advance!!💯
