Humans are amazing- the question isn’t what we can make but what we can imagine (because once we have it in our minds, it will be built eventually)

Can you just imagine being a regular car engine mechanic and then being able to go work on one of these engines for a day?

There was ships with 3 mega engines in the Good Old Days.
The Swedish M/V Nihon with 3 BIG Götaverken engines 2 pc. 10 cyl. and 1 pc. 12 cyl in the middle.
The Danish´s M/V Jutlandia and Selandia with 3 BIG Burmeister & Wain engines, 2 pc. 8 cyl and 1 pc. 10 cyl. in the middle.
All 3 ships was build in the 1970´s

In M/V Nihon we changes pistons every 14 day, even if the piston have a "runningtime" of 10.000 hours.
A normaly person was not able to carry 5 pistonrings.

"Tojiro blades are made from pure cadmium" I don't think so. It a steel alloy with cobalt in it.

At Lord Gizmo; Get the facts right! These engines were and are still "designed" at Winterthur Gas&Diesel in Winterthur, Switzerland not in China, even though the company is now owned by CSSC (China State Shipbuilding Corporation)? Western countries developments and engineering handed over to China in the name of financial gains. What else?

just imagine if the Chinese were clever and understood that lots of engines did over 6000 RPM, - They fon'y trslise it, but that ship of theirs would probably be the fastest sgip in the whole world! Don't tell them though, let the silly billy's run it at 80 RPM! Do you know how many Olympic Swimming Pools that is?
