Resistant forces always go in the opposite direction to motion. They are things like friction or air resistance..

Resultant forces are "net forces". So if a car has a driving force of 5000N and a resistive force of 1000N, it's resultant force (net force) would be 4000N.

Sorry another stupid question. When do R forces go up and when do R forces go across? So resistant and resultant forces are both different?
