Been using Hotwired liner and gloves for 6 yrs so far and it’s holding up well. Gloves fit well, but there is no heat in the fingertips. If it’s cold enough they will freeze. I’ll keep it as long as it holds up I’ll keep it. If I were to start over, I would go with the Warm n Safe setup.

I would think the GSA has heated grips.

I’m sorry. I’ve never had heated gear, that’s the thing I fear with any heated gear is when you need it and it doesn’t work and your ride is ruined. I did an iron butt recently to oregon from so cal and it was in the low 20’s thru mt Shasta area. I almost got frost bit, I was so close to getting heated gear.

29° ouch. Heated gear failure, Yup, we've both been there... or so we thought. Riding in SoCal through the mountains, we had our heated gear on full blast and still froze. the next day we tested our gear on both bikes and they worked just fine. We just figured we were riding too fast and the wind chill factor caught us. I run First gear liners and Kake has Hotwire.

You riding in low temps is dedication G. Those Hotwire gloves are initially snug and do break in nicely. I got The entire kit. Top to bottom. How about some Hot-Hands warmers inside those gloves? Inexpensive too. Good back up. Gotta put them on in the house as it about 10-15 min to get warm. Good mention about failure of heated gear, getting cold of and safety. Reaction time is slowed.

Awe man, fingers crossed 🤞🏾…I’m only in my first season with hotwired heated gear (jacket & glove liners) and so far so good. Hopefully I’ll get a few more years out of it before I have any failures like that!

Happens to the best of us. Electrical equipment is bound to fail at one point or another. Like you said, check your gear. But even then, it may fail.

Hot Wired term has a bad connotating to me. I foresee some short cuts in wiring them to your bike. I ride Goldwings and have used the same heated gloves and jacket liner for the past bike ('10) and the current one ('19). I took the time on both bikes to wire the plug-ins to the switched ports of my isolator and tested both items before heading out. "G" go back to rewire the stuff correctly. I have all FirstGear electrics for over 8 years and all work great. Even added a connector of my wife's gear of glover liners and jacker liner... all are still working.

Bummer the glove broke on ya - I've been there! I was riding to work one day and the left glove [FirstGear] had stopped working, and I didn't notice before leaving the house. I gritted through it, knowing the afternoon would be warmer, and got on the horn with FirstGear, who replaced the gloves. I carry backups with me all the time on my Harley though, so I could switch to them.

I'm surprised you didn't turn on your heated grips when the glove stopped working? It never got cold enough this winter for me to need both the wired gloves AND heated grips... next year is sure to be brutal, LOL!

That really sucks with the heated gear failure. But the only time you neeed heated gear is sub 32. So it is never good to have heated gear fail when you are using them.

Great stuff, GB! I've been wired to the bike for 20 yrs using the Gerbing gloves and jacket linear. It depends on weather... so sometimes I turn on just the gloves or at times both. Gerbing has been awesome! Though the gloves I purchased 20 yrs ago are a bit bulky. Its a bit awkward at 1st then one gets used to them...which I have to do each season. lol Actually! I was a bit surprised that the hand guards did not help avoid the frozen issue. I've never had a set on any of my bikes. So just what I had expected in my mind. Guess I was off base!

Mine has never failed. Gotta go straight from the battery and always check your fuses. They can look good but be blown

I have HotWire heated gear, while riding to Yosemite my gear FAILED! but when I plugged it on Rich bike it worked just fine, however when I plugged into my bike it would NOT work. Long story short I forget to put the FUSE in the wiring. yep it was my FAULT. 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 I froze on that ride.

My gear is 4 years old and all original pieces, with many miles on all of it. I'm Surprised you have had you had so much trouble with

I think the plugs on heater gear are universal so you could get another jacket of a different brand and try

Get a battery for back up maybe ?
Or return to the Wing 😜

And the rub is at that point that you realized they failed you can’t turn back most likely cause you have to be at work and your already so far from home, you have to just roll with the punches.

Are co-workings jealous of the new bike? It's funny because I still wanted heated gloves despite having the heated drips, so I feel you, Gil. Man, I can remember riding to work in the cold and having to go to the bathroom and run my hands under the hot water 😆. Was it difficult to wire the bike up for the heated gear? I don't have any heated gear, but if I lived up north and rode in 40 or less a lot I think I'd have to pick up some heated gear. Thanks for posting and ride safe!

I actually don't think the hotwired gloves are worth anything without thew heat functioning properly. They don't come close to the warmth of Gerbing heated gloves without the heat. That's why my hotwired gloves sit in the garage and my Gerbing gloves come out to play. Also FYI... The Gerbing gloves do work with the Hotwired jacket and plugs right into the sleeve plugs.
