The cake was a mess. I would have used a cream cheese frosting. It would have at least held together and not have looked like soup. Cool Whip is a cop out topping. Sorry Justine this one I'll have to pass on.

What can you replace the soda with since i don't drink soda?

The cake didn't hold together without eggs and oil. I looked up "two ingredient cake mix and soda" and saw it listed on the Food Network website, among others. Reviews weren't good. They said cake is crumbly and sticks to the pan.

Another useful science experiment for kids, proving again that eggs have many functions in cookery - raising agent to give lift, binding agent to hold the crumb together, nutrition of course leaves soda for dead. There's more but here ends the lesson for today.
