Driving Combines to Wheat Harvest 2022! Montana Farming

In today's video, Dad and I are driving our John Deere Combine harvesters about 10 miles to start harvesting in one of our fields. It's been a year since our last harvest and I am very excited to be back in the combine again. I explain what the combine does and we get to see a lot of wheat and barley fields that are not quite ready to harvest. This is the real thing and not a farming simulator and it is exciting! I have some pretty interesting facial expressions while driving too!!! I almost hit a road sign, which is never a good thing. There are a few warning lights and I explain how we deal with the minor ones compared to the major ones. Dad and I are going to test the wheat to make sure we are at the correct moisture level before cutting the entire field. I hope you enjoy my video! Thank you for watching!!!

My Story…
Hello. My name is Kate Stephens, and I am an 18-year-old 4th-generation Montana farmer. My family has been farming wheat in north-central Montana since my great grandfather immigrated from Denmark in 1912 and homesteaded our land. My family has been teaching me about farming since I was two years old. I run one of the combines on the farm at harvest. I believe that it is important for everyone to know where their food comes from and the families who produce it. I love our farm, and I hope that my Farm to Fashion and Farm to Table products can help educate people about where their food comes from in a fun way. That is how Kate's Ag - Farm to Fashion became a reality. I hope you love my products as much as I do because this is an extension of our farm and the grains we have been growing to feed other families for over one hundred years.

I am about the same vintage as your grandpa and enjoy watching your channel. You are such a breath of fresh air and I hope you carry on farming. I spent around 10 years working on wheat farms in Australia when I was around your age and enjoyed the experience.

Yay u have a crop! Me TJ and Avigail just came home from selling wonderful and delicious sweet corn that we donated to the nights of Columbus.

I miss our old combines 2. When we harvest we do so many things. Earlage with a combine header on a forage harvester, we do high moisture corn kernels that go in silos and we do some corn silage, alfalfa silage, just the kinds of beans are 25 diff ones. Thank god we r rich enough to buy all that stuff we need cuz it’s crazy.

We had 2800 pounds of seed wheat and after cleaning and sorting it was still 2400. Pretty good 4 us. This year our big thing is soybeans. They are in our best ground and after they made nitrogen nods my dad put 1000 pounds of hog manure on with the y drop irrigation. They blew up and if I stretch them out they are as tall as my dads chest with pods like every single inch.

TJ has literally loaded us up with cover crop seed and he’s still going at it. He is kind of a farm within our farm. Me and Avi make him nervous cuz we’re loud and stuff. Basically the boys in our family are master minds like our mom and the girls are all crazy like my dad. Even my dad says it. My dad stold a donkey from a live nativity scene and rode it. My mom has never done anything bad I swear.
