🔒 Lock Cells in Excel to protect them from being changed #shorts

Today we'll cover how to make cells non editable in Microsoft Excel. You can lock or unlock specific areas, cell or ranges in Excel to protect your formulas & only allow input where needed. This way you don't need to protect your entire sheet, but protect and lock only some cells and leave the rest open for input.

Thanks, That helped a lot! One more thing I noticed is that this works when the range to be locked is only at the beginning of my data set, like column A:A or A:B, if it is located somewhere in the middle of my data range, the lock did not work with me. For ref.: I used that in MS Excel 365 on the cloud.

How to lock cells with if then statements. For example; if on a drop list, I select “No” in “O6, ” I’d like the cell beside “P6” it to be locked. Is there a way to do that? What formula can be used in there?

It would be better if you could lock cell so that drop down list (data validation) works, but you could not copy-paste something else over the cell and ruin data validation.

When I refresh my pivot tables, it is annoyingly resizes my column widths. I have read some solutions saying un check LOCK option from the format menu. So I did it. It is now most of the cells are showing errors, and when I refresh my Pivot table, it STILL changes the Column Widths.. How can I solve this?
