I'm 31 and just learned how to remove a bike chain. What a great day! Thank you.

I am 73 and bought a Scott scale 50 six months ago. I have taught myself to do everything without any experience ever. It took me a while to realise that the chain was stretched, and I needed to replace it. It was a sram chain, and I wasn’t strong enough to push the chain together to release it. I found a piece of wire and threaded it through the link and tightened it up with pliers. That did the trick.

Thank you! I've never dealt with a master link before and thanks to you, my 11 year old now has wheels again!

Sidenote: My needle nose pliers were MIA, but regular pliers did the trick! Just be careful not to lose the clip, it's tiny!

Great. Clear straight forward explanations. No unnecessary stories for introduction.

Thank you, finally a video that shows different kinds of chains! I'm pissed off after watching a dozen of different dumb videos that mention only 1 type of chain, without explanation about other types and barely showing even this 1 type.

If I had a chain tool, I wouldn't be here now. Give us a solution that does not require special tools

Despite some facscious comments I thought this was a super clear and super easy to follow video which has given me enough knowledge to work out which chain I have, which tools I may need to purchase and how to do the job.

Thanks 👍👍

Don’t you think if I had a pair of quicklink pliers that I would already know how to remove my quicklink chain?

thanks for this clear, well-done post. newbie here. my wirecutter tool worked on a quick link, once I positioned the adjacent links at 90 degrees to the quicklink. in other words, the wirecutter tool is too thick to fit between the links, but if you position the adjacent links 'downwards', you don't have to fit between 'em, since the quicklink is 'exposed' so to speak.
