They were definitely hanging around the tourist areas for food options. Prices are basically doubled where there's a lot of foreigner foot traffic😊

9000USD? That's around 1.2-1.4M yen (depending on when they went). I was there last year with 2 friends for 10 days, and we only spent around 250k yen each.

Totally worth it. These are big spenders. The average visitors will not spend this much money.

Remember folks, people from my company spent 10k on two flight tickets to japan. Yea 10k on flight tickets alone. Some people have money :) And we are talking about CHF not USD so it's 11K USD.

I did $1, 000 for 11 days. That included absolutely everything. The biggest money saver was staying at cheap hostels with shares rooms + buying my flight 8 months in advance.

I took Zip Air a subsidiary of JAL. You have to order everything separately -a bit like SouthWest. The basic fare was $500 RT from SFO. It was great. Would fly Zip again.
