UNIVERSITY LECTURER | Preparing a lecture series, getting ready to teach class - uni module prep!

This video is about preparing to give a university lecture series. Part of my job as a university lecturer requires teaching, I teach a mix of lectures, lab classes, tutorials and project supervision. Teaching first year through to masters and PhD students. Sometime I have to write new module content or I may be asked to takeover teaching a class from another academic. Today I chat about the latter - how I get prepared when I am taking over a module. Usually I'll gather together the existing notes on the course, read the module descriptor, look at the assessment structure and time plan and then work through the content... preparing lecture by lecture to make up the module. I like to mix up my lecture content, a mix of talking, activities, questions, clips, maybe even the occasional demonstration! Do let me know in the comments your best tips for lecture prep and if you'd like a video where I discuss how I prepare for a new module. Or perhaps a video of when lectures go wrong!

Thanks as always for watching :) #drcst #academiclife #university

Having a degree says that you can teach up to a certain level. I was terrified of not knowing what to do and having to learn the hard way and the hard lesson I did not want it to have an effect on my student. So now that I have reviewed this video, I took my "lecture notes" line by line from this video, reviewed it many times and I am reading through the course description and outline now. This has averted a lot of stress on the part of myself and my student. I hope this video is supported by other persons who are advancing their career in teaching. Thank you Dr CST

Wow this is really helpful. I really benefitted a lot especially on the issue of keeping hand written notes throughout the years.

Thanks for this wonderful video. I am also trying to become a lecturer (hopefully soon). I took part some part-time responsibilities so far. I would definitely want to see a video showing how something goes wrong.

I just watched your video to learn how to prepare lecture to deliver in front of huge number of students. And I learned much more than that. May God bless you

Hi, this may be irrelevant to the video, but I have a few questions.
1. I used to play as a teacher when I was a kid, and wanted to be a teacher. Can I become a lecturer instead of a high school teacher? :D
2. What is the difference between a professor and a lecturer?
3. Can I become a a lecturer with just a Masters?
