Zimbabwe to return land seized from foreign farmers - BBC News

Zimbabwe has offered to return land to foreign nationals whose farms were seized under a controversial government programme two decades ago.
Thousands of white farmers were forced from their land, often violently, between 2000 and 2001.
The seizures were meant to redress colonial-era land grabs but contributed to the country's economic decline and ruined relations with the West.
A separate compensation scheme has been launched for local white farmers.
They have not been offered land, but the government last month promised them $3.5bn (£2.6bn) for seized infrastructure.

Shame they can't un-slaughter all the ones that refused to give up their land

When they took back the farm lands, they failed to realize they had no farming skills, which hurt their nation as a whole.

White Zim farmers had their farms taken from them. They started farms in Zambia. And now selling food to Zim. Such irony.

FOREIGN FARMERS?! . Just because I'm white doesn't mean I'm foreign. I have a right to be Zimbabwean. I was born in Zimbabwe ! I have lived in Zimbabwe 🇿🇼 for more than 90% of my life . Only now am I in England. Why. Because land has been taken away from my family. No jobs. No opportunitie no life. Because land has become tranquil. Im just stating facts.

You can clearly see those people taking about their land are not farming the land.

BBC disrespectful, imagine calling black British foreign. I am Zimbabwean and white. Makes me feel horrible to read this title

They weren't foreign. Most of them were born there. They were white-Zimbabwean. Same concept as black-British

Don't return. Share no farming knowledge. Let the soil turn to dust and walk away.

The land seizure was poorly thought out and was a poor response to the British pulling out of the Lancaster agreement.

I am a black Zimbo living in Zim....Many many blacks were against how the land was taken away from the Whites in the year 2000. I am also aware of how the best land was systematically and unfairly given to the Whites under decades of colonial rule . However this is where prudent leadership was required..The country was and still is big enough for both whites and Blacks. This was an opportunity for the leaders to avoid further damage to the country.

They murdered landowners and stole their land, of course they should be made to return it.
