By now you have probably heard about TikTok's infamous Pink Sauce. It wasn't MADE by TikTok, to be clear, but that was where the actual creator decided to market and sell their product. Except, then people actually TRIED it and the results were... not good. Today, I want to figure out what went wrong with the Pink Sauce - from the recipe to the regulations. Let's get cooking!

I'm honestly astounded that she's even allowed to sell this. I remember when we set up a small pop-up concessions booth at a school festival, we had to have a licensed food health and safety officer come inspect our ingredients, food storage, food processing methods, prep surfaces, etc. to get the equivalent of a day pass to sell food to the public. Food safety is serious.

the lady asking "It is just a prototype why is the FDA trying to get involved?" has the same energy as the kitchen nightmares resteraunt owner who asked Ramsey "What are you a health inspector?"

As a culinary kid, this lady's product upset me so much, especially learning that she didn't know about the FDA, any personal chef should have their ServSafe, and she would know about the freaking FDA just from getting that certification, let alone the other multitude of certificates she would need. It hurts my little culinary heart to see people try to sell this off as a healthy natural product

The fact that Chef Pii made this stuff and DIDN'T do any research on making a food product like this is insane! How is she not getting bombarded with lawsuits!? I feel like a judge would gladly tell her she can't keep the ingredients of the sauce secret and that she needs to take a kindergarten level course on what the FDA is

I remember MatPat talking about only wearing 1 sock at a time but seeing it in action feels unnatural somehow lol

I’m a food product developer and this product just…hurts my soul. If I did what she did I would lose my job. It takes months to finalise a product and for her to just send it out half assed is frustrating to see . Love seeing your detective product developer work!

"You are judging a prototype"

You are SELLING a prototype. You don't sell prototypes to the public, you sell the final product.

I just noticed Mat wrote "vinger" on his bottle of vinegar which confused me until i realized that's how it was spelt on the actual "nutrition facts" label. This sauce just gets better and better

It also said on the bottle “1 Table spoon per serving”, if there are 444 servings, that’s a whopping _1.73 Gallons, _ or _6.6 Litres!_ That is *way* more than possible to fit in a bottle the size showed in the original video

Unrelated, I LOVE Oli's art on the fridge. You guys are a wholesome family every time I see you all on screen. I love it!

"Who would not like ranch?"

Looked it up before, it is basically an unearthly concoction of every single food allergy and intolerance I have.

Honestly, with a fraction of the ingredients (garlic, salt, lemon and oil), she could’ve made an emulsion that would result in a middle eastern garlic sauce (toum) and then just colour it pink with dragon fruit powder and it would’ve been palatable and fun. It would’ve been creamy (though maybe not super squeezable) and good though still has issues like being perishable.

To be honest, I have no idea how pii has the guts to call herself a chef when she just mixed mayo and chili powder and shipped it out without thinking that it would spoil over time.

I love how Stephanie is the only one making all the sauce while matpat is there for memes and the science talk lol

The fact that she doesn't even know what FDA stands for, along with how it's all packaged (the list could go on) shows that this is obviously not safe

From a home cook perspective a lot of this makes sense. Seasoning mayo tastes nice and is easy to do. Which makes up for it's short shelf life. The dragon fruit is novel but also tasteless. That makes the taste of the official product worrying. Makes you wonder if everything has just gone off.

The most disturbing fact about this episode isn’t the Pink Sauce. It’s that MatPat only wears one sock on one foot.

I love the pics Oliver made being on the fridge. Unlike ‘family’ influencers. Iconic how a non family influencer is more loving than ‘family’ influencers.
