It depends on the peanuts. Some peanuts have more natural oil in them, so you don't need to add as much extra oil. Sometimes they have less, and additional oil is required. That's why you only add a little at first, then add more if required ;)

I used a packet of Unsalted Peanuts (the same kind you would eat as a snack) which are usually already roasted. If you are using raw nuts, you can lightly toast them in the oven if you like ;)

Hello,
I realize this a few years ago, however it hit the spot today. Thank you.
You have an ability to break a recipe down so a person feels confident enough to try. You are an excellent teacher.

Store the peanut butter in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 weeks. You may get a little oil settling on the top after a while, you just need to give it a vigorous stir ;)

Worked like a charm.

I used unsalted roasted peanuts (200g), 1 and a half tablespoon of Peanut Oil, 1 teaspoon of sugar, a pinch of salt.

Thank you!

I’ve just learnt to make peanut butter from scratch !! My god ! I should have done this sooner because I spent so much money on gourmet peanut butter over the years. Some recipes don’t use oil but I think it’s a must because it really binds everything together and gives that silky smooth texture. Nice tutorial 👍🏻

Use slightly less oil and process the mixture less, or mix in some crushed peanuts before transferring the peanut butter to a jar/container ;)

Just made this using honey instead of sugar, I just like the taste, & coconut oil. I read the different fats which allow it to solidify at a higher temperature keep the peanut butter more together, smooth, & less grainy. So far, tastes great. Also, read it keeps about a month in fridge. Love Ur vids. Thanks

It's a Russell Hobbes food processor. I recommend using a plain oil. Olive Oil could override the flavour of the peanuts, so stick to a vegetable oil for best results ;)

You can use a blender as long as it's a powerful one. It's best to use unsalted peanuts, so you can control the amount of salt in the peanut butter ;)

I put a tin of dry roasted salted peanuts in a sieve and rub to remove the salt. Then into a towel to remove some more salt. Then I process it until it is smooth. I never have to add oil. I made it also from raw peanuts but it takes more time. I never add sugar. I keepmit in the freezer until needed. Really tasty.

For crunchy peanut butter, use a little less oil and process it less. Yes, you can use almonds instead ;)

It's best to use a vegetable oil, as Olive Oil has a strong flavour that can overpower the peanuts ;)

This version would be fine for baking. Just make sure to give it a good stir before using it, to ensure any separated oil is properly mixed back into the peanut butter ;)

I've never tried using honey instead. It's should work though ;)

I remember my Mum getting the same stuff at the local health food shop back in the 80's. Personally, I thought it was vile as they always added way too much oil.

My cookbook is available on the iTunes Bookstore. If you bought the eBook version from the LuLu site, you should be able to import it by dragging it into the "Books" folder on iTunes. Otherwise, I'm not really sure ;)

He used canola oil ie vegetable oil. Yes you could use brown sugar or honey. You could also dump in melted chocolate if you wanted too. Refrigerated peanut-butter will last a few months.
