VVT Beast Miata Takes On V8 Hot Rod!

For those concerned with the details on the first run - In my experience the D585 LS Coils are great, but they are susceptible to heat when it comes to spark power. The car felt like it was blowing out spark on all 4 cylinders just above 18psi. It was hotter than usual that day so that's my theory anyways. I gapped down from .032" to .024" and took it back out immediately and it was ON LIKE DONKEY KONG!! I called out my boy for another fun run the next day

Much love for your Miata Greg. I've watched you build it. But the icing on the cake was when you re-shimmed and set all of the valve gaps. From that point I felt the engine was perfect. Great transmission, rock solid chassis, clutch, etc. Now the tires are dialed in. Of course you are going to wipe out a massive, heavy V-8. Piston compression probably 145 lbs. That was beautiful. I can't imagine what was going through that guys head when you whizzed by him. I'll wager he had no idea your engine is 1.8 liter. Got my heart racing bro. Do more race challenges. Just watch out for the MAN.

Hot rodder does not question why he paid for the 4 extra cylinders, because he most likely got the 5.7 at a junkyard for 300 bucks and did nothing to it at all. But I <3 you and your car Greg :)

Greg, make sure you have the right ignition wire crimp ends for the LS coils, from what I understand there is a specific crimp/connector you must use to get a correct connection, if you use the standard ones that look similar you get the a spark on the inside of the boot before it jumps to the ignition wire, rather than actually having a proper connection to the ignition wire.

Hey Greg I got a question I was hoping you could answer. So I have ms2 pnp I my Miata and I ended up cutting the front of the car off and have made a tube front end. Do I need to keep the crash sensors or can I cut those and toss them? Will It mess with anything in the ecu or engine?

Dont be knocking the big boy motors now lol... A built vvt turbo miata motor puts down 420whp but any built LS turbo motor will put down minimum 500whp on like 7 psi lol. Plus throw a 100 shot on that old small block and you’ll be door to door again!
