It is a fun trip revisiting this classic tune. Peter Cetera has such a smooth high tenor sound it is always a pleasure to hear.

Oh yes, the tape cassettes, which I listened to over and over again - and fast-forward or rewind until the song I wanted came. These are memories... 😄

Peter Cetera broke his jaw early in his career and it resulted in his “jaw forward” singing style.

The guy reading the newspaper is Walt Parazaider, he plays woodwind instruments for the band and if you notice, there are 4 keyboards being played in this video, 2 by the trombone and trumpet players. There were no horns on the song so those horn players had to look like they were a part of this song, when they had nothing to do with it.

Peter sadly retired in 2018 at the top of his game. His voice was still wonderful & was doing quite a few shows every year. Great musician, singer & song writer. Also a good all around guy. Always a classy gentleman. Miss his live shows.

He broke his jaw in 1969 which is why he sings with more of a clenched jaw. Peter played the bass on this song. I’ve loved Chicago since I first heard them in 1970. I love the 70’s Chicago & the 1980’s. Different eras of my life & can appreciate all their music. When Peter left in 85 & Danny( drummer) was fired in ‘90 I lost interest but still followed Peter as a solo artist. Amazing voice & musician.

As an 80s kid this makes me laugh, cry (cus we're old and cus we actually looked like that back then), and scratch my head (wtf did I just watch) simultaneously. Thanks for the reaction.

1:05 TAPE WARPING!

To your comment on Cetera’s jaw…Cetera sings with a clenched jaw because he had his jaw broken in three places, so he learned how to sing with a clenched jaw. He was celebrating a Cubs win over the Dodgers and ended up getting into a fight with four Marines at Dodger Stadium. This all ended with his jaw being broken on May 20, 1969.

7:12 Other people have explained this, but that is Walter Parazaider. He plays sax and woodwinds in the band, and obviously there’s not that much brass in this song, so he didn’t really have anything to do. Parazaider retired from touring with the band in 2017 due to a heart condition and unfortunately on April 2021, he was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease.

This was the song my wife and I danced to at our wedding reception. I still listen to this day

It wasn't the synth keyboard it was an effect of VHS tape warping. The only thing they should do is dub the video with audio that never had that issue. Apparently, someone transferred this from VHS tape to digital and that point in the song was slightly warped.

Peter Cetera Live and older is awesome and I think also worth a reaction. Maybe his Medley with David Foster😍

Cetera actually sang this song a key or two lower live than whats heard on the official recording. On CNNs 2017 documentary on 50 years of Chicago during the recording of YOUR THE INSPIRATION. The horn players were going to add horns to the track but Cetera walking in and told them "No !! turn those horns down. He didnt want horns on that song. It is true that Peter did NOT play bass on most of the songs on CHICAGO 16 and 17. There was no bass played at all on his second solo album SOLITUDE - SOLITARE. It was Synth Keyboards.
