You should look up Harry Washington.

It was a man taken from The Gambia and enslaved by the first president of United States named President George Washington. Then he and other African Americans escape to Nova Scotia Canada and then the British helped them and a group of Jamaicans escape from Nova Scotia to Sierra Leone. They built a city called Freetown, because they were free . and they were dropped off in front of a cotton tree that is still there in feeetown.
They renamed themselves krio tribe and their descendants are still there . Harry Washington- a Gambian, african American, Nova Scotian and Sierra Leone hero.
