NASA Just Set A Date For Starliner’s Undocking

Even with the decision already made and the crew no longer returning on Starliner, teams are still busy testing the spacecraft in preparation for an upcoming undocking. One major hurdle is the fact that the main thruster complications have been going on within the spacecraft’s service module. This will be jettisoned and burn up upon reentry meaning the next week is some of the last time available to test and gather data.

There also are concerns as to whether or not the vehicle will survive reentry which, no matter how small, is the reason it will be uncrewed. Here I will go more in-depth into the return date and time, final spacecraft testing, reentry concerns, and more.

Flatliner Bingo for landing
- Clock failure
- Thrusters fail
- Hey - where did all the helium go?
- Sorry about the door - contractors, amIrite?!
- We have no idea why the uncommanded nose up/down
- Thrusters again?!
- I thought you packed the chutes!

Please put Boeing out of our misery. ☹️

Space is uncertain. Adding even more uncertainty doesn’t help.

Of course Boeing and NASA have to say they have confidence in the vehicle. They have too much (money and reputation) invested in Starlemon to do otherwise. If SpaceX had screwed up as much as Boeing they would have been shown the door long ago, And I say that as somebody who thinks Elon Musk is the biggest horse's ass on the planet but acknowledges that he's done a great job with SpaceX.

For those moaning about the “waste of taxpayer money” go look up the portion of federal budget that NASA gets. There bigger wastes of money to get upset about.

I thought that the undocking of Starliner needed to be coordinated with the launch of the SpaceX Crew-9 mission, however all Falcon 9 launches are currently on hold by the FAA due to the B1062 incident. If NASA knows when Starliner can undock, do they know when the FAA will unground the Falcon 9?

Boeing is getting the humiliation they deserve after wasting billions of taxpayer dollars on a misguided and poorly executed program. There is no word for the scale of depravity of this program. It should be shut down before any more harm is done.

Use a pressurize air lock to push it away?

I wonder if Boeing will self-fund a second CFT-2 mission, like they did with OFT-2, or if (assuming they return the capsule safely) they can go straight to Boeing Starliner-1 in 2025/2026 after working with Aerojet Rocketdyne to fix the thruster issues they identified in ground testing these past weeks.

Boeing is probably eager to unload Starliner on someone else and the recent mission failure is going to knock the price way down. If Blue Origin steps up, Starliner would nicely complement their Blue Moon program. Of course, they'd have to change its' name to Blue Something, maybe Blue Fixer Upper or Blue Salvage 1.

We all know how this is gonna end, it’s gonna crash and burn! Not necessarily in that order.

Probably the best decision they could have made. A bit of doubt, means the possible loss of lives, is not worth it.

With all its failures, can it undock with no pilot and not destroy ISS?

WTF ? .... Starliner was a Test Vehicle on a Test Flight ... and Butch and Suni were Test Pilots .... Plus, Suni and Butch are seasoned ISS veterans who will fit right in ... they are Not freaking Prisoners in danger, needing Rescue LOL ! ... What pure Bot Bullshiit ! :-[

As an American taxpayer watching my money go to waste over incompetent people that don't know what they're doing in the first place I'll keep working and give my taxes to incompetent people

Great to hear publicly. Yes, this was a certification flight, and NOT a test flight.

If starliner has anomaly on re-entry hopefully the FFA bands NASA for having any future launches. Let them explain what happened because he incompetence procedures that run the NASA program

"...safety - our core value and North Star"

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Profit is your core value, Boeing 😂😂😂😂

Better not to parrot Boeing propaganda. Replace words like 'will' with 'planned to' or 'should'. There is definitely no certainty with Starliner.

There is no reason why this spacecraft cannot be landed and tested for what went wrong 👀👂
