At one point every manufacturer made a 28mm. It was a standard lens to have for street and photojournalist. I’m not really sure why it fell out of favor.

I wish you’d have compared the Viltrox 28mm/f1.8 to the Sony 28mm/f2. I have the Sony, and would have been interested to see if the Viltrox f1.8 photos are different *enough* to justify buying it.

Thanks for the honest review. I've been debating a prime in the 24, 28, 35, or 50 range. This will get added to my list.

I really liked the photos nearer the end when the sun is throwing a deep yellow light on its way to red. Great colors and nice images.

Love the review! Right now, I’m trying to pick out the smallest 35ish mm lens for my a7C. It looks like it’s between the Samyang/Rokinon 35mm f2.8, the Zeiss 35 2.8, or the new Sony 40mm 2.5. It would be awesome to see a “Battle of the Smallest Lenses” type video, comparing the three.

Great video! Helped me in my decision to buy the lens😀 Would you say you could still use the lens in dusty environment (e.g the beach, but not close to water ofcourse)? Or would tiny bits of sand or similar make its way trough to the sensor? 😌 Have asked a couple other youtubers about this before, but no answers yet. Would highly appreciate some thoughts on this

Hi Dylan, great Video as always! Would you recommend the Viltrox over the Sony 24mm f2.8? Does the Viltrox make use of the 61mpx?

Great job on the reivew. I have the 24 1.8, great budget alternative to the GM (and more compact, too!).

I admit I really want a 28mm lens but do wish Viltrox built this lens more like their APS-C 75/1.2 (which I bought for my A6700) or 27/1.2 they have released for Fuji that will be coming to Sony. I’m a stills shooter and having an aperture ring without real stops is problematic to me. Especially as the lens ages. Yours is brand new. Does it have a very real ‘A’ setting? Any chance Sigma will add a 28/2 to their I- Series? I will use on both my full size and compact full frame Sony bodies. I also have the A7CR along with A7RV and A1. Thank you for your video. Appreciate your efforts.

I just picked up Viltrox's 20mm f2.8 since it was only $150, at that price why not. This 28 is intriguing also, as always amazing photos!

Nice video! I can see a very nice improvement on the sharpness of your photos since you updated to the A7CR. Think I might upgrade to it as a A7C user. Cheers

Not a bad set-up. Between the 61 mp of the A7CR and the Viltrox 28mm F1.8, you have something similar to the Leica Q3 for thousands less.

I mean what is the difference between f2 and f1.8?

How do you find the mini grip? I have the A7RV and I grabbed a mint A7CR on black Friday, it didn't have the grip in the box
so was wondering if it's annoying when you have to change the battery?

How do I justify buying this when i can pickup sony’s 28f2 for dirt cheap, especially if it’s used?
