a porcelain gun would basically be a single shot frag grenade

Oh please, people wouldn't make laws about things they haven't researched or understand literally anything about.... would they?

A gun made only out of porcelain shares a lot with a cheap toilet. Pull the trigger fully loaded and it'll fart to a million pieces

I have a porcelain 1911. Well, my stepdad did. Dead serious. It’s full of whisky. Well, it WAS full of whisky. Then one day I stole most of it and diluted it with water. Then it froze cuz it was out in the garage in the winter and it cracked. Then I got grounded. Too bad, it would have been a cool conversation piece.

Same reason legislators are freaked out by suppressors. They think they make guns chirp like a bird.

Also, Porcelain would show up in an Xray just fine!!

We need to make it so law makers can’t base laws off Hollywood

well I'm pretty sure the bullets will show up easily enough regardless of what the firearm is made of...

Weird, how the government gets most of their information from Hollywood movies about firearms

Lethal Weapon and Black Talons, lol. Instead of spending all my money on .22s I saved up just to get a few boxes. After I bought them, my pops told me the movie was crap and took 1 box of .45 for his 1911, lol. This is how I learned about hollow points, how they work, and that I was ripped off because I listened to a movie.

A quick trip to the Austrian Patent Office shows that the Glock 7 is actually an attachment to a sheath which prevents the knife from sliding out. Glock 1 being a safety valve for pressure cookers

Politicians don't make laws regarding firearms based on fact, it's all about look of the gun and their feelings

Last century, I spent 22 years as a machinst. Working with various materials, there are metals that are not detectable with common metal detectors. As far as x-ray detection, a creative designer could have a firearm that looks like something else. As far as industrial ceramics, pistons for diesel engines were made of various ceramics, could be referred to as porcelain. The only reason that development stopped. The Abrams tank gas turbine engine finally got reliable enough to get US Army acceptance.
If you provide the budget, technical people can provide amazing products. But keep in mind that Sci- Fi invented the future. So the idea has to be born. Before the product will be developed.

Remember to never ask "how stupid can someone be" when it comes to guns. You'll always be suprised

Everyone who was every upset about porcelain guns completely forgot about the ammo apparently.

Just like politicians think “silencers” make a gun silent. They don’t. Not even close. The quietest .22 suppressor available right now is 116-118db. That’s not very quiet. For comparison, a kitchen blender is just over 80db, and anything over 85db is potentially hearing damage capable. Approximately 10db is perceived as twice as loud.

What's funny is this law is actually more relevant now with 3d printing as you could formulate a gun, but it would probably only fire once

Ban anything you want but guys like Tetsuya Yamagami will still make what they need to commit their crimes.
