My great-grandmother had glass shelves lined with African violets mounted in front of her dining room windows. Absolutely stunning display. She passed away in 1974, and my mind can still picture her beautiful flowers. Thank you bringing to mind a precious memory from my early years.

Over 50 years ago dad had an African violet collection and he didn't want anyone to mess with it, he took care of them and they were gorgeous. Once we moved to US he never picked up that hobby again 😮‍💨, I miss him. I will have to get a collection to remind me of him ❤ Blessings 🙏🏻💞

What a sweet memory for me. My mom always had beautiful African Violets in the kitchen. She would dissolves an aspirin in the water she used to give them a drink, which makes me wonder if they prefer an acidic soil? At any rate, you’ve inspired me to try my hand at growing some. Thank you for the clear and thorough lesson in growing African Violets.

My grandmother gave me my first African violet pot when I was 12, and now, 50+ years later, I still have at least 8 plants growing on my patio! I love propagating them and giving the plants as gifts to friends and family. Thanks, Laura, for reviewing repotting and showcasing such a special plant!

Dear Laura, I have been watching your videos for the last three years every day. I am currently working to complete my doctorate of educational leadership, and your videos have been a calm respite in all of my readings about how much teachers know about phonics and how effective they feel as teachers. I want you to know that this video was perfect for me, as I finished the last chapter of my dissertation and submitted it last night. I went to my local grocery store and bought a new African Violet to celebrate. It has purple flowers and a white throat. This video today could not have been more perfect. Thank you for all you do every day, Best wishes to you and your family-- Love, Jess

Well how many of us are on the hunt for African violets now? I used to grow beautiful ones but it’s been years. Thanks Laura for always inspiring us❤.

Wow! 💜 You just gave me a newfound appreciation for African Violets. I thought they were too fussy. Not anymore! 💜

I love African violets and these are beautiful. Just stunning. I used to have lots of violets and grew them under grow lights. Unfortunately, life happened and I didn't have time and now I really miss them. Watching this has made me decide to go out and buy a few nice ones and start again. Thanks for the inspiration. Have a blessed day everyone.

What a treat to have a new video in the morning while I’m still having my coffee ☕️ 😊 Time to go see if my garden center has African Violets!

African violets always make me remember my late Mom. She always grew tons and put them on the window sills. Would propagate and give away tons too.❤

I’m a big African Violet fan. They’re such a low maintenance plant if you meet their basic needs. I picked up a tiny one at my garden center last summer that had been neglected and was really struggling. The garden center discounted the price because of its condition. I came home, repotted it and gave it a little talc. Today it’s a glorious plant and makes me smile every time I look at it.

🌸Good day Laura and Friends. I am so thankful for this demo on violets! My grandmother always had one on the chest in the living room, and was always giving me a cutting, but I always killed it!! Now in my apartment, I’ve learned thru the ages how to keep them, collect them, and love them just like my Grandma wanted! I’m in an apartment so they are perfect for me. If one dies, I propagate or buy another. Enjoy a beautiful day everyone, 💜🌞

I’ve never had good luck with African Violets, but I didn’t know about the number of light hours and dark hours. Yours are beautiful! 🌸

Repotting my violets is on my to do list. Thank you for the timely video. African violets are, hands down, my favorite house plant. My grandmother always had a plant holder, similar to yours, full of violets when I was a kid. I know that’s when my love for these gorgeous plants started.

Laura you have such beautiful hands ~also because I love Africa and get to travel there as often as possible African violets grow at the entrance of caves✨
