A Day In One Of The Most Incredible Regions Of Almora | Balta Village, Uttarakhand

Taking you to one of the most scenic villages in Uttarakhand. A day well spent in the pristine environs of the village called Balta (near Almora) followed by a riverside picnic - what more can one ask for :)

Time and again I've said that the best thing to do in the mountains is to explore the villages.
And this time not only did it give me a glimpse of Himalayan village life, but also an important life lesson. When I left home this time, I was a bit demotivated and low on energy. But after seeing the daily life struggles of the people made me realise that their lives are way tougher than ours. And yet they face them with hope and happiness.
Being happy doesn't mean the absence of problems in our lives, rather its the ability to deal with them. Happiness is a mindset for our journey, not the result of our destination

Considering the current situation, it makes sense to stay away from the crowds, somewhere accessible yet quiet and peaceful. So that's why leaving Nainital, Bhimtal & Almora behind, my home for a few days will be in the little known village of Papersali.

Although reaching this bnb is bit of a challenge, but if staying away from the crowd is your priority, then this is the place.

It's true that Uttarakhand is opening up for tourism, but is it safe to travel during Covid. Well we are not here to give you GYAAN on travelling amidst pandemic. But it goes without saying that if possible please avoid travelling for some more time. Still if you have to, please travel responsibly - not only for your own sake but for others as well.

If one would like to seek a solace in a secluded place, Kasar Devi would be an apt choice to join in...It is clear that inspite of a plethora of challenges and with a limited resources around, habitants of Kasar Devi and Balta village seem to be happy and enjoying life...Commuting several kms to fetch fresh vegetables and then washing them in a stream of water never makes them tired.This itself speaks volumes of their simplicity they are used to, albeit bigger goals may continue to haunt, particularly younger generation...Too good Abhishek.. Almorah... a nature's bliss...
