Xfinity XB8 modem is trash Stay Away

I say this modem is terrible because of two reasons. I have it set up the same way I ran my old XB6 modem. But now for some reason, I get kicked off the internet every now and then it’s odd. Not for long but it disrupts anything that was happening.

So apparently there are a lot of new ones coming out of production just being bad. The XB8 is good IF you can find a properly working one that’s just fine. This one in the video was the very first one I had and it simply just wouldn’t turn on at all. It was a bad modem. I contacted Xfinity support through the app on my phone and explained what had happened. They understood and scheduled a representative to come and check on it in 2 days from my reported issue. The guy said “yeah it was a bad modem” so he simply swapped it out with another working one and boom we saw 1000mbs speed instantly. Thank y’all for watching& I hope this helps 👍🏼

Just unboxed mine, plugged it in and nothing, no light. Dead on arrival.

Go through the setup process, call them and verify that there is no light. They do a few things over the phone to verify that yes, indeed there should be a light. Sending out a tech to verify said light would be an installation call and cost $100 so tomorrow I get to drive my overly complicated lightless paperweight 20 miles away to the nearest store where, I assume, they shall use their expertise to verify the lack of a light and give me a new one.

Damn dude that sucks! I got an XB8 last week and it’s been great for me so far. I’ve seen speeds as high as 1400mbps on wifi! Consistently get 900+ mbps so far but we’ll see how it goes in the long run

JUST GOT THE 3RD GEN MODEM FEW DAYS AGO, IT REACHES UNBELIEVABLE SPEEDS ON MY PHONE ONLY WHEN IM CLOSE BY THOUGH!

BY THE WAY, JUST NOTICED TODAY THAT THE PODS ARE RUINING THE SPEED!

WITH THE PODS I GOT JUST OVER 100MBPS, WITHOUT THE PODS IT REACHED ALMOST

I see you have an at&t fiber ONT in the background, have you ever tried fiber? It should give you alot better performance, also the at&t modem and router from my experience is amazing. Just letting you know!

They upgraded me to this one and it was working fine for 6 months and then all the sudden 2 weeks ago i would get a orange light and it would stop working then come back on so i went to unplug it and i felt the top of the modem was hot and the part where the coax cable plugs in at was super hot so i got really worried because i dont want a fire so i unplugged it and had a tech come out they replaced it with a new one and once again still same issue within 20-30mins it was hot again so i really don't know what to do at this point any suggestions?

The same thing happened to me, first they sell you the fucking wifi and then they sell you a router and then they want to sell you other things and in the end it's the same shit

Hmmm I also notice you have a ONT but the XB 8 is plugged into coax. Something is not right. That ONT could be Xfinity not just at&t

thank god i kept my grey one. after i installed this white crap it would play video and other things fine. But video games omg!!! i was playing dead by daylight as a killer and kept walking into walls. Mind you i still won >:) cuz im that good but dam! oh and all my attacks on WOW would be like 3-4 seconds late. i activated my old grey modem and the games work again. I'm taking this modem back to the xfinity office and tell them "take this crap and don't even think about rejecting it or im gonna leave it right here and record myself leaving. I had such high hopes too. F that modem.

A lot of things I left out like download latency is crazy behind. download speed and upload speed are not consistent at all. It's embarrassing that a 3-year-old modem was performing better and it's 3 years old. I'm frustrated that I must go back one generation Because everyone obviously wants the new and improved equipment. So far, I'm staying away from the XB8 as it has gave me nothing but problems.

Should I just buy an additional router because the xb8 is shit…… plugged in to my ps5 via Ethernet and the speeds are still slow
