Pesta: The Plague Bearer #shorts

Pesta is the personification of the Bubonic Plague or Black Death in Scandinavian folklore. She was said to carry a rake or a broom and bring the disease to towns and villages, harvesting the souls of those who died.

Might be worth adding here that "Pesta" (the "-a" denotes that it is a female personification of "pest" = plague) is very similar to "besta", meaning "granny".. ie an *old* woman.

Incase anyone is wondering whats going on in this game. Pesta is apart of Norwegian mythology which a woman who represents plague cones to your village and spreads an illness. If she carries a rake with her then only some in your village will die by sticking to the brambles (twigs) but if she carries a broom then all will be swept up.

Very intersting story and folk legend, she is similar to the Plague Maiden or Morowa Dziewica from the Slavic Folklore, but instead of the rake or broom, she carries a red tissue in her hand
