On August 24th, we were joined by Dr. Sinclair Ferguson, distinguished theologian and Ligonier teaching fellow, and Rev. Burk Parsons, copastor of Saint Andrew’s Chapel and editor of Tabletalk magazine. Together we discussed sanctification and the Christian life as we sought to think biblically about law, grace, and Christian liberty.

Great discussion, I found it edifying and comforting. Dr. fFerguson, I will be 72 in October . So at least one elderly watching.I am sure there were more!

I've been really edified by this. Thankful for God's providence in causing me to come across this at a much needed time. Towards the end I love how Rev Buck Parsons admonishes us, "...to look up, to look to Christ, to keep our eyes fixed on him as he is the motivator and sustainer of our salvation from beginning to end." For me this sums up the whole matter. God bless you Nathan, Dr Sinclair, Rev Buck and all at Ligonier and beyond who labour in the cause of Christ by his grace.

Ligonier Ministries "Developing Christian Character" an excellent resource for understanding the sanctifying and maturing working of the Holy Spirit in the life of a baptized Christian.

Grace = God's reward at Christ's Expense

Is the controversy mentioned referring to the Tullian/DeYoung sanctification debates or something more recent?

Do either of the panelists have encouragement for a believer living the Christian life that suffers from depression and therefore lacks much of the emotion enjoyed by many believers as a biological result of the condition?

it is the blasphemy of Christ's sacrifice blood to think salvation as work of both Christ and believer. Once we are saved we born in christ from the DNA or seed of God as to be like Christ but we still in dwell in cursed flesh but the fight is only with this not with core true concept of salvation. More over Christ himself sumup the dead laws in one sentence Love your God in all your heart power mind and love your neighbour like yourself. Love and holy sprit to fight this fight too.
be blessed.

Does the reader of this comment believe the following quote is antinomian or flirting with it, or do you think it is good Christian sentiment:

God loves me as I am. And if I’ve accepted Christ, He forgives even what Im doing right now, so it’s ok. Yet how could I ever NOT want to respond to that unconditional love by stopping sinning, since I don’t even have to. Nobody being that gracious as God is can be denied. (by a regenerating heart). Of course when I say “I dont even have to”, it means “to be loved and counted righteous”; there will still be whatever natural consequences and delays in sanctification. But not less love or propitiation.
